February 24, 2016 - Are you planning a Louisiana road trip? Interested in Louisiana’s Civil War battlefields? Then you’re in luck! Mansfield State Historic Site has developed a driving tour that covers the major battles and events occurring in the State during the Red River Campaign. The 1864 Red River Campaign Driving Guide will take you from the piney hills of Northwest Louisiana to the bayous of the Atchafalaya basin utilizing gravel back roads and paved state highways that shadow the line of march of the Union and Confederate Armies. Along the way, numerous historic markers and sites can be accessed that connect travelers to the 1864 campaign. The driving tour brochures can be obtained by visiting Mansfield State Historic Site.
