Angie Mae Sparks Barnett, 78, passed away Friday, July 14, 2023. Angie was born to the late Angelo Sparks and Eirsa Mae Ayers on November 4, 1944, in Shelbyville, Texas.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023 from 1pm until 6pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 23031 CR 2183 N, Tatum, Texas 75691. Service will be held Saturday, July 29 at 11am at Friendship Baptist Church with interment following at Rather Cemetery, Shelbyville, Texas.
Angie accepted Christ and joined the St. Mark CME “Evergreen” Church at a very young age and she began using her gift of singing there. She graduated from East Liberty High School in 1963 and remained close to her classmates throughout the years.
She married George Barnett on July 31, 1966, and this union four children were born; Vickie, Shermetra, Rashad, and Reginald.
Angie Mae Sparks Barnett was a sweet, caring, giving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved her family. Always lended a hand to others when needed. She was consistently generous and giving and left a legacy of goodness in this world.
Throughout her life she not only worshiped the Lord at church but at home and everywhere she went day and night. She always read and studied the bible for herself. She remained dedicated to her Christian faith by studying the Bible, trying to learn Hebrew, sharing the Gospel with others, supporting ministries, and instilling her values into her children and grandchildren. Angie loved art (painting and drawing) and gardening. She loved planting flowers and fruit trees.. She played piano and enjoyed painting, drawing, quilting, and sewing. She also enjoyed canning, making jellies, and cooking. She was dedicated to raising her children and being involved in their education and life. Throughout the years, she served as a room mother and on the PTA. She supported various causes - homelessness, stopping hunger and poverty in the community and in the world. Our Lord called her home on July 14, 2023, at age 78, in Longview, Texas.

She was a proud and joyous grandmother to her seven grandchildren; Brandon, Keith, Talisha, Dennis Jr., Bernard, Savannah, and Brock, and five great-grandchildren: Lyric, Harmonii, Kayden, Delilah, and Nicole.
