Lana Stamps Satterwhite

02/11/2026

Lana Stamps Satterwhite, 73, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, in Longview after a brief illness. Born December 16, 1952, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Lana was the daughter of Gerald Stamps and Avis Ramsey Stamps.

Visitation will be held from 6pm to 8pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Watson and Sons Funeral Home in Center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 13, 2026, at Shady Grove Cemetery in Timpson with Orval Miller officiating.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Steven Stamps; and sister-in-law, Mary Stamps.

Lana graduated from Timpson High School and went on to become a cosmetologist, eventually working out of a shop her husband built at their home. Later, she worked alongside her youngest daughter at her shop in Center before retiring to Huxley.

She married David Satterwhite on July 25, 1973, and together they had three daughters.  When she was not making people look beautiful or raising her daughters, Lana always had a hobby to enjoy. She did ceramics for a time and kept a beautiful lawn and flower beds. She loved the outdoors and, most especially, the beach. For about the last twenty years, she rescued a great many cats, even saving abandoned kittens she bottle-fed herself.

Lana never hesitated to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was at her best in those moments. In a profound act of love, she donated one of her kidneys to her beloved sister, Gay.

She is survived by:

Husband, David

Daughters:
Kelly and husband Clay Leslie
Rae and husband Dave Martin
Teri and husband Heath Bolton

Grandson, Jeffery Satterwhite

Brother, Gerald Stamps

Sister, Gay and husband John Childs

Sister-in-law, Marianne Blalock

Numerous nieces and nephews

Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Martin, Clay Leslie, Heath Bolton, Jeffery Satterwhite, Mike Satterwhite, Cliff Satterwhite, Seth Duke, and Steven Andrusick.
