Larry Chandler, 78, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 3, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Funeral service will be held at 2pm, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with visitation beginning at 1pm Bro. Bobby Warr will officiate. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Center.
Larry was born in the Aiken Community of Shelby County. He grew up on a farm and loved tending to the chickens and cows. He spent many a happy day in those pastures and woods hunting.
After he got older, he worked in the watermelon fields and talked about it all the time. He married the love of his life, and they were married fifty-four years. He always said he robbed the cradle as she was sixteen and he was twenty-four. He served in the Air Force for twenty years and was proud to serve his country.
When he got out of the military and working with soldiers, he got into God’s army, preaching and making soldiers for Christ. He pastored several churches and loved every one of his people. They taught him so much. He loved his family and especially enjoyed picking at his Sissy. The picking came honest from his father and grandmother who were good at playing tricks. He will be missed by many, but especially his fellow pastors and domino buddies, his second family.
I don’t think they have domino tables in heaven, but if they do, he will be right there.

Wife, Marlyon Chandler
Sister, Katie and husband Peter Kelly
Niece, Kerri Wiggins and husband Darren Wiggins
Nephew, Matthew Warr and Charla Warr and family.
He is preceded in death by mother, Patsy Ruth Chandler and father, J.L. Chandler.
Pallbearers will be Paul Barrones, Patrick Scarborough, Phillip Scarborough, Darren Wiggins, Jesse Wiggins, Ricky Livingston, and Mac Samford. Honorary pallbearers will be Toby Reeves, Steve Lovell, Ruston Sample, Donel Sample, Jeffery Scarborough, Jared Wiggins, and Matthew Warr.
