Larry O’Neal Sample, 69, of Center, Texas, passed away June 20, 2025, in Center. Born on June 23, 1955, to P.O. and Odell Sample, Larry was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Visitation will be Monday, June 30 from 12pm to 2pm at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Timpson, TX (4417 CR 4054 Timpson, TX 75975). The funeral will be at 2pm following visitation.
Larry lived a full and joyful life. He married Deb Hutto, and together they were blessed with three children: Patrick, Stephanie, and Ashley. Later in life, he married Debbie Peurifoy, gaining two more children to love as his own—Christopher and Mary Ruth. Larry was immensely proud of his family and found his greatest joy in being “PopPop” to his grandchildren, cherishing every moment spent with them.
In his younger years, Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life—hunting, fishing, and sitting down to a big plate of crawfish with friends and family. He had a knack for turning ordinary moments into memories, always ready to laugh, joke, and enjoy the good times.
A hard-working and self-made man, Larry owned and operated Hi-Way Salvage for most of his adult life. Through his business, he made countless lifelong friendships and became a familiar face in the community.
Larry will be remembered for his big heart, fun-loving spirit, and unwavering love for his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and strength that will be carried on by those who knew and loved him.
