Tommy Ray Byrd - Tommy Ray Byrd, 47, of Joaquin passed away Monday, May 01, 2006 at his home. Services will be 11 am Wednesday, May 3, 2006, Mangum Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Sam Glover officiating, burial will follow at Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha.

Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 5 pm until 9 pm at Mangum Funeral Home.

He was born July 23, 1958 in Dallas, Texas to birth parents Ernest & Maudine (Moore) Byrd, Adoptive parents, William Henry & Jessie Lorene (Settles)Byrd.

He was a member of Logansport Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by: Wife, Patricia Byrd of Joaquin, Daughter, Crystal Alexander & husband, Jonathan of Stephenville and Daughter, Jessica Byrd of Joaquin. Mother in law, Frances Byrd of Joaquin, Numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Gladys Schillings - 86, of Center, passed away Friday, May 5, 2006. Ms. Schillings was born March 24, 1920 in Hemphill, Texas to Vestal Metcalf and Mertie Burgess Metcalf. She was a member of Sardis Pentecostal Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home with Bro. James Goodwin officiating. Interment will follow at Holly Springs Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

Evelia McSwain - 78, passed away May 11, 2006 at her home in Center. She was born July 4, 1927 in Center, Texas to Willie Johnson & Mary Brown Johnson. Mrs. McSwain loved nature and the outdoors, with a special fondness for birds, animals and plants. She and her husband operated Earl's Nursery for 18 years. She loved to travel and spent many hours on the road. Mrs. McSwain cared deeply for her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Rev. Eddie Mahan officiating. Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery in Shelby County, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Sam Mahan, K.P. William, Royce Lynn Johnson, Robert McSwain, Glynn McSwain and Bryan McSwain.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Bradshaw, Wayne Bittick, Bobby Holloway & Mike Walker.

She is survived by her loving husband, Earl McSwain. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 27th. Other survivors are her devoted granddaughters Betty Jo Inman of Arizona and Dawna Jo Inman of Dallas, Brother Leroy Johnson and wife Betty of Kansas, sister Odell Strahan of Center and special niece Bonnie Nash of Center.

She also leaves behind numerous extended family members and acquaintances with fond memories of her hospitality and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie Johnson & Mary Brown Johnson, her son Bobby Joe Inman and brothers Weizie, Eldridge and James Ray Johnson.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 8 pm Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center.

Mr. E. Robert Whitt, Jr.
Mr. E. Robert Whitt, Jr., 63, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at his residence in Joaquin, TX. He was born November 16, 1942 in Shreveport, LA to the late Ellis Robert Whitt, Sr. and Florence Ellen (Osborne) Whitt.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at Kilpatrick's Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites. Officiating will be E. Ky Faciane of First Baptist Church of Bossier. Interment will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery, Meriwether Road.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, May 12, 2006 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Whitt proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #362.

He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Chuck Williams and his niece, Kari Powell.

Charles Eric Jones - Charles Eric Jones, age 29, of Center, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006. He was born June 27, 1976 in Carthage to C.W. Jones and Kathryn Louise Clark Jones. Mr. Jones worked as a security guard for the Sand Hill Foundation.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, May 22, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.
