Winfrey Dee Lout - age 88 lifelong resident of Shelby County, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the home of her daughter where she had made her home for several years.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 1, 2006 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Michael Hale and Bro. John Bender officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 pm at Mangum Funeral Home.

She was born July 22, 1918 in Shelby County to Parents: Ira and Mildred Kimbro Hughes. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Center. She was retired from Holly Farms, Center.

She is preceded in death by: husband, J.C. Lout, Sister, Marie Hughes Croft, Parents, Ira & Mildred Hughes, Sister-in-law, Tommie Jane Bradshaw Hughes and Brothers-in-law, Leonard Favale and Dalton Croft.

She is survived by:

Delano Warr - 63, of Center, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at Shelby Regional Medical Center. Service will be 10 am Saturday, December 2, 2006 at mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Warr officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2006, from 5 pm until 9 pm.

He was born January 30, 1943 to Lofton and Donna Koonce Warr. He was a dispatcher for the Sheriff's Department in Shelby and Nacogdoches County. He was a member of the Mt. Herman Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lofton and Donna Warr, brother, James Warr, sister, Infant baby.

He is survived by Wife, Sandra Warr of Center, Niece, Kerri Wiggins and husband, Darren of Center, Nephew, Matt Warr and wife, Elizabeth of Flagstaff, Arizonia, Step children, Sharla Cedilla of Pasadena, CA. , Nathan Thompson of Phoenix, AR., John Thompson of Pasadena, TX., Wesley Thompson, of West Virginia.

Lela Fay Wilson, age, 75, after a lengthy illness Mrs. Wilson passed away peacefully on November 24, 2006.

She is survived by her three loving children. Gilbert R. Wilson, of Manor Tx. Bruna J. Hubbard of Garland, Tx. and Joanne K. Gamini and her husband, Max of Huntsville, Tx. Other survivors include her four grandchildren, Nathanial Wilson, Mauri Hubbard-Harrison, Tania and Shari Hall. Her loving brother Commie Smith and his wife Betty, Brother in Laws Carl Wilson and his wife Shirley, and Thad Leslie Sewell and his wife Donna of Amarillo, Tx. Many dear and wonderful niece and nephews.

Mrs. Wilson will be laid to rest by her loving husband Billy J. Wilson at Wimberly cemetery in Shelbyville, Tx. Bill and Lela Wilson were the former owners of Bill's Landing (previously know as Bailey's Landing) in Shelbyville, Tx. which is now owned and by Charlie and Rhonda Shiverly who are very dear and close friends as would be with any child-parent relationship.

Lela is preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Wilson, her twin sister, Willie Jones, her sister Eva and one granddaughter, Lindsey Hubbard.

Visitation on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 7 pm at Mangum Funeral home, 420 San Augustine Street, Center Tx. 936-598-3341.

Kathryn Joyce Shouse, age 49, of Timpson formerly of Dallas passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at her residence.

There will be no services, family requested that her body be cremated.

Kathryn Joyce Shouse was born, November 23, 1956 in Pasadena, Tx. to James Augustus MCBroom and Marion Cargill McBroom Mitchell.

She is survived by Her Mother, Marion Mitchell of Appleby, 4 Sisters, Chris Lee and husband Cleave of Timpson, Gail Estes of Nacogdoches, Sharon Branstein of Richards, and Kathy McBroom of Lake Worth.

Effie Mae Fenley Sharpton, 91, of Center, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2006 at a Nacogdoches hospital. She was born October 6, 1915 in San Augustine, Texas to John and Pearl Battles Ware. She was a member of the Newburn Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ms. Sharpton was also a member of White Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 26, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Rev. Jason Hebert and Rev. Pat Windham officiating. Interment will follow at White Rock Cemetery in Center.

John Paul McSwain - 42, of Joaquin, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2006. He was born September 25, 1964 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Billy and Helen Tyler McSwain. He was a member of the Jackson Baptist Church. Mr. McSwain was a lineman for Swepco and a farmer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 24, 2006 at Watson and Sons Chapel in Center with Bro. Mike Cross, Bro. Dock Lazarine, and Tommy Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Irene Philip Campbell -65, of Center, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2006. She was born October 10, 1941 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to John Philip, Sr. and Margaret Warnick Philip of Unionstown, Pennsylvania.

Irene was in the Women’s Army Corp from 1959 to 1961. She attended Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania, El Centro College in Dallas and SFA in Nacogdoches. She was a registered nurse for 40 years and was a certified RN for cardiac care, advanced life support, and closed head and spinal cord injuries. She was invited to Who’s Who of Professional Nurses.

Pallbearers will be Mark Riggan, Steve Campbell, Odell Wiggins, Dusty Davis, Ty Wilson & Ronnie Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers will be all of Mrs. Campbell’s other nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Dr. Jack Smith and Jerry Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Verna Mills - age 100, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Pine Grove Nursing Home.

Kathryn Garrison McIver, 84, of Center, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2006. She was born January 10, 1922 in Garrison to S.F. Garrison and Verna Moore Garrison. Ms McIver was a member of the First Baptist Church in Center and a member of the Rachel Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. Ms. McIver was a volunteer at the Shelby County Museum.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Watson and Sons Chapel in Center with Rev. Carl Smith and Rev. Michael Hale officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery in Garrison.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Alzhelmer's Association.

Sheldon Jay Sullivan, 46, of Center, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2006.

At the family's request, Mr. Sullivan will be cremated with a private burial to follow at Cedar Yard Cemetery.

Alvie "Red" McDonald -86, of Shelbyville, passed away at his home on Friday, November 17, 2006. He was born July 13, 1920 in Grand Saline to Acie and Nellie Lee McDonald. Mr. McDonald was a member of East Hamilton Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the US Army Infantry Division during WWII.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel in Center with Bro. Kenneth McCauley and Bro. Billy Windham officiating. Interment will follow at East Hamilton Cemetery in Shelby County.

Graveside services will be held at 10 am, Friday, November 17, 2006 at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin with Bro. larry Harville officating.

He is survived by Brother, Doyle Carroll of Joaquin, Special Friend, Faye Ashley of Joaquin. Also numerous nieces & nephews.

Doris Ruth Ramsey, 86, of Stonewall, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at her home. She was born March 8, 1920 in Center to Benjamin Franklin & Fannie Humphries Cox. Ms. Ramsey was a member of the Salem Baptist Church in Stonewall.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center with Bro. Stan McGee and Bro. Charles Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery in Center.

Rosa Mildred Roberson, age 78 years, of Tenaha passed away Monday, November 13, 2006 in Carthage. She was born January 21, 1928 in Tenaha to Marvin Newton and Rosa Lee McDaniel Womack. Mrs. Roberson retired from Tenaha ISD as the elementary secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Tenaha and the Ladies' Five Sunday School class. Mrs. Roberson was also a member of the Ladies' Sewing Group and Son Shiners Singing Group.

Ralph Buckner - 80, of Joaquin, passed away November 9, 2006. He was born December 3, 1925 in Haslam, Texas to WIll and Dosia Buckner. Mr. Buckner was a member of the Joaquin Masonic Lodge 856 and was a past Worshipful Master. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Joaquin and served in the US Army during World War II. Mr. Buckner was a retired operator for Duke Energy.

Ronnie Wagstaff, age 56, of Elkhart formerly of Center passed away Sunday, November 5, 2006. Military Graveside services with the National Honor Guard from Ft. Hood will be Thursday, November 9, 2006, at 11 o’clock at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Bro. Lee Powers officiating. Visitation will be tomorrow (Wednesday) evening from six until eight o’clock at Mangum Funeral Home.

He was born September 9, 1950 in Center, Texas to parents Austin Oran Wagstaff and Melva Jean Sanders Wagstaff. He served during the Vietnam War. He was of the Church of Christ faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Austin Wagstaff.

Amoung his survivors are: are his wife, Janet Wagstaff, of Elkhart, two sons, Jay Austin Wagstaff, of Elkhart, and Ronnie Oran Wagstaff, Junior, and wife Judy of Lake Charles, one daughter, Cheryl Darden, of Elkhart, his mother, Jean Wagstaff, of Center, and his sister, Peggy Dowdy and husband, Ernie of Tyler. Mrs. Richardson was a retired beautician, a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. Tolbert Foster - Tolbert Foster, longtime Center resident, passed away Friday, November 3rd after a short battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Greg Megill officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Watson and Sons Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Scott Massey, Mike Walker, Bubba Parker, John Lee Pigg, John Black, and Neilson Davis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Boyd, F.E. Parker, W.I. Davis, Gail Cuculic, James Campbell, John Mobley, Dr. Earl Grant, Billy Bob Thomason, Rhett Stone and Billy Bob McAdams.

Born May 30, 1929 of Tom Foster and Ruth Smith Kindle, he is survived by his mother, Ruth Smith Kindle of Austin, wife Betty of Center, daughter and son in law Bonnie and Bob Walker of Austin, sons, Tolbert L. "Buster" of Arlington, James Robert of Corpus Christi and grandsons Clayton Foster Walker of Chicago, Illinois and Mason David Walker of Austin.

With his father, Tom, Foster headed Center Broadcasting Company, which operated KDET AM and KLCR FM radio and later built the existing cable television system in Center.

Beyond operating radio stations in East Texas, Foster operated radio and television stations in California, Arizona, New Mexico, and all parts of Texas including the franchising and management of the KVUE Channel 24 TV in Austin, Texas.

In Addition to his communication and broadcast experience, Foster was involved in ranching, auto dealerships, on the board of directors of several financial institutions and most recently, very active in the local real estate and timber production industry.

One of his legacies to the town of Center is being a co-founder and co-designer of the golf course and the Center Country Club.

He served his country as a member of the United States Naval Reserves and was also a proud member of the Shreveport Club, the Headliners and the Ex Student's Association of the University of Texas.

He traveled extensively. Most notably three African safaris and the many trips to major golf championships including several to the Masters in Augusta, Georgia.

The family wishes that memorial gifts be made to the Life Care Hospice, 320 North Street, Nacogdoches, Texas 75961 or in the name of Tolbert Foster to any charity of choice.

Nera Elda (Nelda) Blankenship/Williams - was born Jan. 27, 1912 in the Joaquin Community. She attended Joaquin School, graduating in 1929. Graveside services will be held at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin at 2:00 pm on Friday, November 3, 2006 with Bro. Mike Cross officiating. Services will be under the direction of Charles W. Smith & Sons Funeral Home in Sachse, Texas.
She married C.H. (Harvey) Williams Mar. 1, 1930 and they had one son, Johnny Glynn, and one baby daughter, Mona Jean, who died shortly after birth. In the 40’s they moved to Houston, Texas where he found employment with Humble Oil and Refining and sub-sequent moved to Baytown, Tx., where they resided until his death, Dec. 20, 1990. In 1991, she moved to Crowley, Tx. to be near her son and daughter-in-law. She was a resident there until her son passed away Mar. 6, 2004. She then moved to Sachse, Tx. to live with her grandson, Danny and his wife Billie living there until her death.

Her family will always remember her as “Mom” who loved to cook, go camping, fishing, as well as loving to sew and crochet and knit. She especially liked to travel in their travel trailer with their friends as well as family visiting Colorado and Utah most every summer. She loved gardening and planting flowers telling everyone, she “liked playing in the dirt.”

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Madge, of Sachse, Tx., 3 grandsons, David and he wife, Debbie of Austin, Tx., Danny and his wife, Billie of Sachse, Tx., Dwight and his wife, Arleen of West Valley City, Ut. And 1 grand-daughter, D’Ann Johnson and her husband, Chris of West Valley City, Ut. 7 great-grand-daughters, 2 great-grandsons and 2 great-great grandsons, and 1 great-great grand-daughter.
