Elsie Scott, 77, of Center, passed away Monday, July 30, 2007 at her home.

At her request she has been cremated.

A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 3, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Center with Rev. Greg McGill officiating. Cremains to be interred at Memorial Gardens in St. Charles, Missouri at a later date.

Mrs. Scott was born in Oakville, Iowa on June 5, 1930 to Charles and Ola Scale Scott. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and was a homemaker.

Kathryn Elizabeth Prince, age 94 of Center, passed away, Sunday July 29, 2007 at Lufkin Memorial Hospital.

Services will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Megill officiating, burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 until 7 pm at Mangum Funeral Home.

She was born February 3,1913 in Shelby County to parents, Wiley and Pearl (Lawrence) Watts. She graduated from Center High School in 1929 and she received her degree from Texas Womens College in Fort Worth and Stephen F. Austin State University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She and her husband Virgil owned and operated Prince Building Material here in Center for many years. She was active in many organizations including the Center Music Study Club, Center Woman Reading Club, United Methodist Womens Group and she was one of the Charter members of Beta Sigma Phi Soroity . She also served on the Board of Directors for Fannie Brown Booth Library and she was a graduate of the Cloud Croft New Mexico Art Academy. She had a lifelong love of painting and she taught private lessons in Center and San Augustine. Many people in Center have paintings by Kathryn Prince.

She is preceded in death by her parents Wiley & Pearl Watts, Husband Virgil Prince, Brother , Wiley Watts Jr., and 2 Sisters, Madeline Nix and Marian Purdy.

Jody Nichols, 20, of Center, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home. He was born November 3, 1986 in Nacogdoches. Jody loved to fish and hunt. He played in the Center Little League from 1995 until 1998 and played football at Shelbyville High School. He was of the Baptist faith.

Taylor Funeral Home announces services for 62 year old, Howard Stephen Teer, Junior, of Gary. Services are Friday afternoon at two o’clock at Taylor Funeral Home in Timpson. Interment will be Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at Liberty Cemetery in Coushatta, Louisiana. The family will receive friends tomorrow (Thursday) evening from five until seven o’clock at Taylor Funeral Home. Seborn William Greer, Jr. was born in Appleby, Texas September 26, 1942, to the late Seborn William Greer, Sr. and Gertrude Kilgore Greer. At 64 years of age, he went to be with his Lord and Savior July 21, 2007. Soon after graduating from Nacogdoches High School in 1962, Seborn joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort MacArthur in Los Angeles, California. Upon his discharge from the army in 1965, he joined the Dallas Police Department where he served the public for 12 years while simultaneously furthering his education. After receiving a scholarship through the Dallas Police Department, he graduated from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1977, having achieved the highest rank of sergeant, he retired from the police department to start a career offshore in the Gulf of Mexico as an oil and gas production lease operator and continued in this field until his death. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Grace McNeil Greer; son Seborn William Greer III, daughter-in-law Susan, and children Megan and Micah; son Brent Allen Greer, daughter-in-law Glenna, and children Myla, Male¹na, and Ryland.He is also survived by his siblings, sisters, Helen Calame of Wortham, Texas and Peggy Beck of Cushing, Texas, brothers, Tommy Greer of Round Rock, Texas, and Jerry "Tony" Greer of Nacogdoches, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by sisters Kathleen Greer Nottingham and Lynn Eva Nation, and brothers, Garland Greer and Jack Greer.Pallbearers will be Mark Greer, Bill Beck, Jr., Chuck Calame, Steve Lawrence, Bryan Best and Darryl Rose.Honorary pallbearers are James Barnwell, Dale Baker, Mike Knous, Clifton Layton, Benny Nottingham, Donny Nottingham, Gary Nottingham, Lee Nation, Biff Calame, Charles Kilgore, Ray Kilgore and James McGown.Services will be held at Dickie Allen Funeral Home in Cushing, Texas, with the Rev. Wilbur Lee Taylor, 68, of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at a Temple hospital. He was born May 14, 1939 in Bedias, Texas to Carl Edwin Taylor and Melissa Ione Taylor.

Hollis Jeans, 79, of Center, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2007 at a Shreveport hospital. He was born January 17, 1928 in Center to Hessie “Monk” Jeans and Lillie Mae English Jeans. Mr. Jeans was a retired barber, an avid fisherman, and served his country in both the Army & Navy. He was a member of the Shelbyville Masonic Lodge #32, Order of the Eastern Star and The First Baptist Church in Center.

Waylon Boles, 81, of Center passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at a Bossier hospital. Mr. Boles was born August 9, 1925 in Center to Aaron Boles and Mary Barbee Boles. He was a former member of the Center Noon Lion’s Club, CEO and co-founder of Right Step Adult Day Care Center and a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Boles served in the US Navy.

Sanders, Diana Booth Blanton - Dian was born March 1, 1943, in Dallas, Texas to Adele Henry Booth and James Randolph Booth, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2007, after a nine month battle with cancer. Dian was preceded in death by her parents and beloved grandmother Nannie (Della Rice Henry). Dian graduated from Highland Park High School in 1960 and attended Texas Tech University, where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta. She later studied art history, photography and psychology at S.M.U. and Eastfield College. After careers in modeling, banking, and retail, Dian and her husband Mike founded and operated Sanders & Associates. Throughout her life, she was a committed volunteer with the Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Museum of Art, Dallas Opera, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Salvation Army, Pastoral Counseling and Education Center Ambassadors, and most importantly the Presbyterian Women at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. Survived by her husband, Mike A. Sanders; her two precious sons, Darren Blanton and wife Julie and Brett Blanton and wife Cheryl; cherished grandchildren, Eva, Luke, Mia, Jack, Claire, and Samantha Blanton; former husband, Barry Blanton; stepsons, Mike Sanders, Jr. and Todd Sanders and wife Joy; step-grandchildren, Colton and Chloe; brother, Pat Henry Booth and wife Amy; mother-in-law, Daliah Sanders of Center, TX; brother-in-law, Chet Sanders and wife Betty. Maureen Hayes, age 94, lifelong resident of Center, passed away, Monday, July 09, 2007 at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital.

Services will be, 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Megill officiating and music by the Sunday Singers, burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mangum Funeral Home.

She was born June 26, 1913 in Center, Texas to Parents, J.O. Ceal and Nancy Jane Edwards Ceal. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Center.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Payne & Paynes Hardware Store for many years and she was a homemaker in her later years.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, J.O. & Nancy Jane Ceal, Husband, Fairish Hayes, Sr., Son, Fairish Hayes, Jr. and 8 Brothers, Willie Bryce, Amos Bryce, Emory Bryce, Lonnie Bryce, Marvin Bryce, Homer Lee Bryce, Elmo Ceal and Jewel Ceal.

Garner and Sons Funeral home announces service for 84 year old, Ms. Lee Ella Jackson, of Shelby County. Services are Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at Mount Horeb Baptist Church in Bland Lake. Interment will be in Haley Bush Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 12:30 until nine in the evening at Garner and Son Chapel.

Clinton Randall Crawford, 66, of Tenaha, was found deceased at his home on Wednesday July 4, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday July 8, 2007 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Sunday July 8, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. At the family’s request Mr. Crawford was cremated and his cremains will be interred at the Tennessee Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Crawford was born January 4, 1941 in Shelby County to Curtis and Juanita (Roberts) Crawford. He was a machine operator and a member of the United States National Guard.

He is preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Juanita Crawford.

Charles E. Tyre, 66 of Huxley, went to see the Lord on July 3, 2007. He was born on February 20, 1941. Mr. Tyre was a very devoted family man. He loved having all his children, grandchildren, family and friends around. Before he got sick years ago, he was in the construction business. After his children got older, he and his wife loved driving across country in his 18-wheeler. Mr. Tyre also enjoyed riding Harleys, hunting and fishing. He was the best husband, dad, grandfather, and great grandfather a family could ask for. He was a member of the Mt. calvary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM, Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Watson and Sons Chapel with Bro Don Windham officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

Homer J. Potter, 83, of Tenaha, passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at Shelby Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. Services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oaklawn memorial Park with Masonic Graveside Services. Visitation will be held Friday, July 6, 2007 from 2 PM until 4 PM and from 6 PM until 8 PM at Mangum Funeral Home.

Mr. Potter was born June 20, 1924 in Fort Summer, New Mexico to Henry and Sadie Julian Potter. He was the owner and operator of a Natural Gas Company in Tenaha for many years. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Air Force. Mr. Potter was also a member of the Tenaha Masonic Lodge #737 for 40 years.

Mr. Potter is preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Black Potter, parents Henry and Sadie Potter, brother Norman and 2 sisters, Elsie and Evelyn.

Herbert Ziesemer, age 84 of Houston, TX passed away Sunday, June 30, 2007 at Benner Healthcare Center (under the care of hospice) after a lengthy illness.
Graveside Services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, July 2, 2007 at Short Cemetery with Rev. John Bender, assistant pastor of the First Baptist Church of Center officiating. No Visitation is planned.

Mr. Ziesemer was born July 18, 1922 in Brenham,TX to Herman Ziesemer & Martha Franke Ziesemer.

He was a U.S Army Veteran of World War II. Mr. Ziesemer was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with 2 bronze stars, the Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Mr. Ziesemer was a member of the Plumbers Local Union #68 in Houston and was an Lutheran.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Martha Ziesemer; Son, Tony Lee Ziesemer & 2 brothers, Walter & Charlie Ziesemer

Lillie Mae Rash, 86, of Center passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Center. She was born April 21, 1920 in Shelby County to Space Taylor and Mammie McCarty Taylor. Mrs. Rash was a homemaker, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Monday, July 2, 2007 at Rather Cemetery in Shelby County with Bro. Charles Williams, Bro. Don Windham, Bro. Harold Collins and Bro. Lamar Rash officiating.
