Helen “Sandy” Heisel, 83, of Center, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010 at Shelby Regional Medical Center. She was born July 24, 1927 in Thornton, Texas to Judge Ramsey and Cecil Webb Ramsey. Ms. Heisel was a member of First United Methodist Church of Center.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday, August 30, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Watson & Sons Chapel with Rev. Joel McMahon officiating. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Center.

She is survived by:

Betty Ruth Yarberry Crawford McDonald, 77, of Carthage, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at her home. She was born November 12, 1932 in Malta, Texas to Tobie Yarberry and Jettie Marie Williams Yarberry.

Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Carthage. She was a life-long member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Auxiliary Gideon International. She was an Eastern Star member for over forty years. She enjoyed researching family history and created several books detailing her family genealogy. She was responsible for all the research for the historical markers for the Tennessee Methodist Church and the Tennessee Community Cemetery where she will be interred. She also enjoyed oil painting with many of her paintings decorating her home. She loved to share music and performed gospel music with the Unionaires in many nursing homes.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, August 30, 2010 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Tennessee Cemetery in Shelby County with Dr. William Everett officiating.

Michael "Mike" Tommie Cobb, 68, of the Fords Corner Community, passed away Saturday morning, August 28, 2010, at his residence.

Mike was born to Ruby Pearl (Ford) Cobb and Fred Eugene Cobb on August 22, 1942, in San Augustine County, Texas. He was employed as a Physicians Assistant working in the State of California, and was a writer and a Farmer.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. in the McMahan Chapel United Methodist Church in Sabine County, with interment following in the Tebo Cemetery in Sabine County. Bro. Randy Mills will officiate. Visitation will be Monday evening, August 30, 2010, from the hours of 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, 316 West Columbia Street, San Augustine, Texas.

His survivors include: Brother, Jesse Cobb and wife, Lola of Colleyville; nieces and nephews: Janiece Cobb Mantle, Daniel Gene Cobb, Stephen Michael Cobb, Karissa Cobb Bledshoe, Heidi Cobb, Trey Cobb, and Tyler Cobb and Robert Joyce.

Mrs. Evelyn Leona Beasley Andrews, 89, of San Augustine, passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2010, in San Augustine.

Evelyn was born to Wilma Maggie (Bryan) Beasley and Virgil Ivy Beasley on November 15, 1920, in Ozark, Alabama. She was a homemaker and a member of the Clear Springs Baptist Church.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 30, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens. Graveside service for Elta Lorraine Pannell, 87, of Timpson, TX, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 30, 2010, at Tennessee Cemetery, Timpson, TX, with Rev. William Beaux Dickerson officiating. Mrs. Pannell passed away August 27, 2010, in San Augustine, TX.

Elta Lorraine (Perkins) Pannell was born December 6, 1922, in Allendale, Illinois. She was married to Bennie Lee Pannell, who preceded her in death on October 11, 1971. She was also preceded in death by daughter Gertrude Lois Crawford.

Survivors include her sons Gary Pannell and wife Sandra of Venus, TX, and George Pannell and wife Faith of Tyler, TX; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren.

James Edgar “Jim” Tindol, 69, of Center, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 in Tyler. He was born April 4, 1941 in Center to James A. Tindol and Sarah Tindol-Schmidt. Jim served in the Army and was a member of the VFW.

Mrs. Lucille Fountain, 91, of Nacogdoches, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010, at Nacogdoches Medical Center.
Lucille was born on August 6, 1919, in Shelby County, Texas, to James Add and Elizabeth Rector Hilliard .

Lucille was a lifetime member of Springhill Baptist Church. She loved reading her bible, entertaining company and enjoyed working at Memorial Hospital in the Housekeeping Department for over 14 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ervin Fountain, sister, Juanita Kelly, brothers, Homer Hilliard, and Howard Hilliard.

A funeral service for Loyce Collum Samford, 90, will held Thursday, August 26, at 10:30 a.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel in Nacogdoches, Texas, with Rev. Meredith Wende and Rev. Bill Parsons officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.

Gran-Gran, as she was known by many, passed away on Sunday, August 22, surrounded by family. Her legacy of unconditional love will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She found comfort in Isaiah 46:4, "I will be your God throughout your lifetime-until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you."

Mrs. Samford is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Gay and Charles Oren of Murphy, Sheila and Allen Smith of Nacogdoches, and son and daughter-in-law, Joe Van and Linda Samford of Highland Village. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, her brother-in-law, Morris Samford of Carthage, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Samford was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Van P. Samford.

Visitation will Wednesday, August 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors. Mrs. Samford's son, sons-in-law, grandsons, and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Doris Hazel Williams McGilberry, 86, of Broaddus passed away Saturday, August 21, 2010, in Beaumont, Texas.

Doris was born to Arrener (Wagstaff) Williams and Elbert (Jack) Williams on November 16, 1923 in White City, Texas. She was a homemaker and was married to the late Lawrence McGilberry.

Melba Youngblood, 93, of Center, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Pine Grove Nursing Home.

Graveside Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Oaklawn Memorial Park with Bro. John Bender and Bro. Michael Hale officiating. Visitation will be Monday, August 23, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mangum Funeral Home.

She was born February 10, 1917 to John Henry and Annie Catherine (Williams) Brown. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Center and the Eastern Star for 50 years. Mother and Dad loved to fish and travel to the mountains, she loved going to Golden Harvest and the Senior Citizens Social Club. She loved flowers and loved her family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, John and Annie Brown, Husband, Joe Youngblood and Brother, Elvin Brown.

Olga Hope (Johns) Edwards, age 95 of Center passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010.

Family requested a cremation and no services are planned at this time.

Olga was born March 19, 1915 in New Orleans, LA to parents;
Dr. Foster Matthew Johns and Olga Caroline (Wenck) Johns who precede her in death. She retired from Sears and Roebuck after many years of service. Mrs.Olga Edwards was the oldest living member of the First Methodist Church in Tenaha.

She is also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Edwards, Sr.,
grandson, Christopher Edwards, sister, Louise Roth and special friend, James “Jimmy” Carter.

Cotton Officiating. Burial will be in Rather Cemetery. Mrs. Limmie Lister was born June 5, 1931 in Center, Texas to Mr. McNeal & Mrs. Clabie Booth-Eaden. Mrs. Lister was a Retired Educator for the Shelbyville ISD. She was Married to the late Mr. Vinnie S. Lister who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Lister Passed away August 19, 2010 in Nacogdoches, Texas. Nathan Glenn Robinson, 52, was born on January 26, 1958 to Lynn and JoAnn Robinson. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and went to be with our Lord on August 18, 2010. He worked for 13 years at Grumann and for the past 12 years was employed by Port City Cabinet Works as a machinist. He was an avid fisherman. He loved bowling and gardening.

He is preceded in death by his mother, JoAnn.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane; son, William; son’s mother, Mary; and step-daughters, Jessica and Ashley. Nathan is also survived by his father, Lynn, step-mother, Dee; other mother, Peggy; sisters, Sandy, Lynda and Lisa, and their families; brother, Eric; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and friends.

Elroy Yarbrough was born October 18, 1954 to Inez McClendon Yarbrough and the late Herbert Yarbrough. Elroy is preceded in his passing by brothers Herbert Lee and Floyd Yarbrough.

Elroy united with New Hope CME Church at an early age. He was a graduate of Timpson High school.

In 1975 Elroy joined hands in marriage to Diane Roberts and to this marriage one son was born. Elroy was a dedicated, loyal and loving family man. He was a full time son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, uncle and friend. He was a hard working and dedicated employee for the Weatherford Company of Timpson. He will truly be missed by all.

Graveside service for Martha Bryan McDaniel was held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Corinth Cemetery, Timpson, with Rev. Josh Walters officiating.. Mrs.

Born September 3, 1918, in Holmes County, Florida, Martha McDaniel was the daughter of the late William Early and Callie Donna Birge Bryan. She was an accomplished seamstress and had designed many pageant dresses for girls in the Longview area.

Survivors include her daughters Opal Jean Slater and husband James of Altoona, Florida; Eloise Hanlon of Columbus, Georgia; Helen Gayle Pate and husband Robert of Timpson; and Vina Hilburn and husband Jerry of Timpson; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Clyde Dwayne “Cotton” Hildebrand, age 72, of the Paxton Community of Shelby County, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Ramah Cemetery in Tenaha, Texas. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hildebrand passed away on Sunday morning, August 8, 2010, in Henderson.

Clyde Dwayne “Cotton” Hildebrand was born on September 30, 1937, in Bluff City, Arkansas to Clyde Henry and Doris Jane Gillespie Hildebrand. He graduated from Prescott High School in Prescott, Arkansas and attended Draughn Business College in Shreveport. Mr. Hildebrand served his country in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He worked for Don Griffith Construction for many years and later worked as a self employed oil field contractor before retiring. He had lived for the past 20 years in the Paxton Community, moving there from Carthage. Mr. Hildebrand was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jemima Hildebrand; and one brother, Bennie Hildebrand.

Mr. Hildebrand is survived by his son, Mike Hildebrand and wife Tracy of Carthage; his daughter, Connie Norris and husband Mike of the Old Center Community; four brothers, Larry, Melvin, Rex, and David Hildebrand; two sisters, Betty Henry and Phyllis Mann; four grandchildren, Aaron Boyce and wife Lisa, Heather Thompson and husband Robert Wayne, Curtis Norris, and Hannah Hildebrand; and one great-grandchild, Zoey Thompson. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Hildebrand.

Serving as pallbearers are Kevin McAlister, Todd Kirkland, Jay Blissett, Mike Norris, Daniel Mann, and Melvin Hildebrand.

Donald Thornton, 59, of Lufkin, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010, at Memorial Health Systems in Lufkin.

Donald was born to Marie (White) Thornton and L.T. Thornton on July 19, 1951, in Center, Texas. He was an Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a devoted 25 year member of the Central Volunteer Fire Department,serving as Fire Chief for 20 years.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. in the Wyman Roberts Memorial Chapel, interment will follow in the Macune Cemetery in San Augustine County, Texas. Officiating will be Fire Department Chaplain Ross Black.

Barry Charles "Chuck" Nance was born in Grand Saline, Texas, on April 15, 1947, to James and Winnie (Ponder) Nance. He entered into rest in San Augustine, Texas, on August 1, 2010, attaining the age of 63 years, 3 months and 17 days.

Chuck was a member of Antioch Church of God. During the Vietnam war he served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of V.F.W. Post #9313 in San Augustine and the American Motorcyclist Association.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Antioch Church of Christ in San Augustine County. Officiating will be Alton Shaw and Darwin Roraback.
