Funeral services for Gerald James Stamps, 88, of Timpson, TX, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Timpson, with Bro. Cliff Hughes and Bro. Eric Pledger officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery, Timpson. Visitation for family and friends will be 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Monday, April 2, 2012, at Taylor Funeral Home, Timpson. Mr. Stamps passed away Sunday, April 01, 2012, in Garrison, TX.

Born November 17, 1923, in Farmerville, LA, Gerald James Stamps was the son of the late Fred C. and Amy (Stilley) Stamps. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February, 1942, and served until his retirement in 1962. Gerald was a Chief Petty Officer in Weapons Ordinance and saw military action aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific during World War II and also served during the Korean War. While stationed in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Gerald and Avis Ramsey were married July 20, 1945.

After his retirement, Gerald enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his love was for his Lord, his family, and Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife Avis Ramsey Stamps of Timpson; son Gerald S. Stamps and wife Mary of Timpson; daughters Gay Childs and husband John of Timpson and Lana Satterwhite and husband David of Huxley, TX; daughter-in-law Marianne Stamps Blalock of Marshall, TX; brothers Frank and Virgil Stamps; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Gerald J. Stamps was preceded in death by his stepmother Nell Stamps, son Steven Stamps, brother Bill Stamps, and sister Julia Hunter.

Funeral Service for Mr. Willie D. Yarbrough, age 60, will be held Saturday, March 31, 2012, at 1:00p.m. at New Hope C.M.E. Church, Timpson, TX. Rev. W. G. Morris, Officiating. Visitation is Saturday the 31st from 10a.m. to 12:30p.m. at New Hope Church.

Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery.

Mr. Willie D. Yarbrough died Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth, TX.

Survivors: One daughter, Theresa Yarbrough of Fort Worth, One son, Roderick Yarbrough of Timpson, Mother, Ms. Inez Yarbrough of Tyler, One sister, Margie Williamson (Ray) of Tyler, one brother, Donald Yarbrough (Rose) of Timpson, and special friend Brenda Williams of Center.


Dorothea Kiker, 94, of Winnie, formerly of Hamshire, died on March 29, 2012, at the Arboretum of Winnie. A native of Homer, Louisiana and born on November 1, 1917, she had lived in the Hamshire and Winnie areas since 1937.

Dorothea was a seventy-five year member of First United Methodist Church of Winnie-Stowell, where she served faithfully in many different capacities and groups. Dorothea was a nurse with the Winnie Community Hospital and retired after working for twenty-three years. She tirelessly shared her nursing skills with anyone in the community that needed her.

She is survived by her sons, Dale Kiker and his wife, Paula and Ben Kiker and his wife, Connie all of Winnie; daughters, Sandra Sherman and her husband, Jes of China and Sue Carter and her husband, Doyle of Shelbyville; sister, Christine Vandiver of Madison, Tennessee; grandchildren, Debbie Thornton and her husband, Jerry, Shelle Samaha and her husband, Jimmy, Matt Carter, Jay Carter, Ben Kiker, Jr. and his partner, Rick Claeys, Pajé Kiker and her fiancé, Kevin Sonnier, Jordan Kiker, Kelsea Broomas and her husband, Jason, Cullen Kiker, and Cole Kiker and his wife, Stephanie; great-grandchildren, Austin Samaha, Wyatt Samaha, Tanner Racca, and Madison Racca; and a host of family and friends.

Dorothea was preceded in by her parents, Ernest and Gladys Earp; and husband, John Pickens Kiker.

Her family would like to give a special thanks to the Arboretum staff for their loving, compassionate care, especially those on “D” hall.

Dorothea’s funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, March 31, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Winnie-Stowell, 1708 State Hwy 124, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 W. Buccaneer Drive in Winnie. A gathering of her family and friends will be Friday, March 30, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Broussard’s.

Pallbearers will be all ten of her grandchildren.

Marceline Green, 83, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Shelby Regional Medical Center in Center. She was born Mary 26, 1928 in Center to O.L. Parker and Lois Wilburn Parker. Mrs. Green was a member of Lone Star Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside service will be held at 1:30pm, Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Shelbyville Cemetery with Bro. Carl Smith and Bro. Johnny Allen officiating.

G.C. (Red) Meyers, 82, of Center, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at Holiday Nursing Home in Center. He was born August 19, 1929 in Shelby County to Henry H. Meyers and Luie Sumner Meyers. Mr. Meyers was employed at Tyson for twenty-five years and also worked as a commercial fisherman. He was of the Pentecostal faith.

Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:30pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Watson & Sons Funeral Home in Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Campti Cemetery in Shelby County.

Evie Lena Fletcher, 92, of Center, passed away March 25, 2012 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was born October 26, 1919 in Choice, Texas to William Henry Stanley and Mae Kennon Stanley. Mrs. Fletcher was a graduate of Center High School and Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. She was a school teacher for many years. On November 27, 1940, Mrs. Fletcher married Sherman Hugh Fletcher, who preceded her in death in 2005. She was a member of the Hurst Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing.

Aaron Ross Bridwell 90, of Baytown, Texas went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012. Aaron was born on October 13, 1921 in Center, Texas to Otto and Naomi (Bishop) Bridwell. Aaron served his country and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army and then worked and retired from Arco Steel. When he wasn’t busy working some of his hobbies were hunting, gardening, raising cattle, working on cars, feeding birds and spending time with his family and friends. Aaron was a very strong hardworking man who had a great sense of humor and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ruth Bridwell; sons, Eddie Bridwell, James Bridwell, Billy Bridwell; sisters, Clio Long and Clara Martin, brother Warren Bridwell.

Aaron is survived by his daughter, Carol Fabian of Baytown; daughter, Dorothy Murphy and husband Tommy of Center; daughter-in-law, Beth Ann Bridwell of Baytown; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Haden, age 92, of Tatum, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Dale Purdy and Mr. Bill Lainus officiating. Interment will follow in Rock Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Haden passed away on Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, in Henderson.
Emma Doris Watson Haden was born on June 23, 1919, in Center, Shelby County, TX, the second daughter of B. and Ella Madden Watson. Mrs. Haden married James Hilliard “J.H.” Haden on Feb. 18, 1939, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 1988. She most of her life in the East Texas area and attended the Grand Bluff Baptist Church as well as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Mrs. Haden owned and operated Haden Grocery Store in Harrison County for many years. She retired from Brookshire Bros. Grocery in Marshall after many years of employment. Mrs. Haden loved to garden and was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Annie B. Watson, George Glen Watson, Marlin Watson, Mozelle Watson Haden, and J.C. Watson.

Dale Santford Schuler passed away, March 22, 2012, in San Augustine, Tx. He was born July 30, 1932 to Ralph Ruehle Schuler and Esthes May Dow Schuler in Custer County, South Dakota. He was a good father and a great grandfather. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time with his family. He owned his own business Schuler &Sons Construction in Grand Prairie,TX for many years. Special thanks to the staff at Trinity Rehab for the love and care Dale received while there.

He had requested to be cremated, and no services are planned at this time. He has requested that his ashes be spread over his parents gravesite in Upper Sandusky, OH.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ruehle Schuler, mother Esthes May Dow Schuler and sister Grace Piecha.

Clarence Vernon Peace, age 71, of New Boston, TX died Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at his home in New Boston, TX. He was born September 9, 1940 in Center, TX. He was a United States Army Veteran and retired from 25 year career in law enforcement.

Aaron John Meche passed away on March 20, 2012 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital. He was born on September 8, 1934 to the late Elphege and Ailene Mire Meche of Duson, Louisiana. He served in Calcasieu Parish as Ward 4 Marshal, Chief of Police of Westlake, and worked for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Department. He was in Law enforcement for over forty years. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Westlake and a Charter Member of Knights of Columbus #5755 in Westlake, La. He moved with his wife to Tenaha, Texas in 1998 and attended St. Williams Catholic Church in Carthage, Texas. He enjoyed gardening until Parkinson disease wouldn’t allow him to do it anymore. Aaron loved people and enjoyed helping anyone he could as long as his health allowed.

Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Zola Kyle Meche, three sons, Kyle, Meche of Tenaha, Texas, Kirk Meche of Sulphur, La. And Karl Meche and wife Janis Lyons Meche of Moss Bluff, La One (1) grandson, Aaron Gregory Meche, three (3) granddaughters, Kirstin Aline Meche, Amelia Christine Meche, and Ella Grace Meche. Also survived by two brothers, Leeward Meche of Church Point, La, Harold Meche of Mire, La. Two Sisters, Lee Moreaux and husband Alvin of Thibodeaux, La. And Liz Veronie of Lake Charles. Also brother-in-law Emory Richard of Opelousas, La.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Leora Richard, parents Elphege and Ailene Meche, and his brother-in-law Emerson Veronie.

She was born June 16, 1932 in Neuville to James Thomas Slatter and Loucile Stricken Slatter. Mrs. Whitlock was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Newbern Chapter #1135, where she served as a Past Worthy Matron. She was of the Methodist faith.

A service for Vicky Diane Ellison, 61 of Crosby Texas, formerly of Andrews Texas will be held March 24, 2012 at 2:00pm at Watson & Sons Funeral Home, 1554 State Hwy 7 East, Center, TX 75935.

Vicky entered into rest on March 16th at her home in Crosby Texas after battling cancer.

She was born to Lee and Doris Hadaway in Lubbock Texas on June 2, 1950. She attended Andrews High School. Later she obtained her GED and attended Howard College for Interpreting. She worked at Kirby West in Andrews TX for 14 years and was currently working at A Plus Modular Services, Inc in Crosby Texas and has for the past 11 years.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Gary Eugene Ellison. Jewel Barrett Reid, age 94 of Rusk County, TX, passed away March 16, 2012. She was born January 5, 1918, to Frank G. and Sarah (Seelbach) Barrett.

Jewel is survived by her children: Jewelene Hendrix and husband Billy, Judy Russell, Pam Brautigan and husband Marvin; grandchildren: Mike Lunsford and wife Debbie, Lisa Hughes and husband Randy, Michael Fitzgerald and wife Nikki, Chris Smith and wife Libby; 5 great-grandchildren, numerous great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was born October 22, 1942 in San Augustine County, Texas to Vernon Hightower and Louise Evans Hightower. He was a deacon at Grapevine Missionary Baptist Church and had a degree from Fraith Bible Institute. His occupation was a carpenter. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Linda Darlene Hall, age 64, of Timpson, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2012.

She was born September 14, 1947, in Abilene, Texas, and had lived in Shelby County, Texas, for a number of years. Mrs. Hall was a homemaker, dedicated to taking care of her family.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth W. Hall Sr. of Timpson, Texas; sons, Jeffery Green and fiance Kathy Anderson of Katy, Texas, and Kenneth Hall Jr. and wife Carmen of Houston, Texas; daughter-in-law, Traci Green of Fort Worth, Texas; granddaughters, Katelyn Green and Morgan Green, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Brianna Hall of Houston, Texas, and Laura Anderson of Katy, Texas; and three sisters, Donna Smith of Tipton, Oklahoma, Sheila Samples and husband Royce of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Carol Wright and husband Jay of Granbury, Texas.

Nelwyn Glyn Carriker Hann, surrounded by her family, died on March 15, 2012. Private memorial services are pending at DFW National Cemetery for Buddy, who was a veteran in WWll, and Nelwyn.

Nelwyn was born on May 2, 1926 to R A. & Hazel Carriker in Center, Texas. She met and married Warren (Buddy) Hann on Dec. 24, 1945, while attending Stephen F Austin State College in Nacogdoches. They made their home in Sulphur,LA for over 60 years.

Nelwyn was active in her church, Maplewood United Methodist, for 60 years. She also performed as a line dancer with the Silver Strutters, winning numerous medals at the Senior Louisiana Olympics. Nelwyn volunteered as a Pink Lady at Cameron Calcasieu Hospital for many years. She was an artist by hobby and shared many of her paintings with family and friends.

Nelwyn moved to Mansfield in 2010, where she lived with her sister until her death. The family wishes to thank Community Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their support and compassion they provided for Nelwyn in her final weeks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Hann, and her parents.

Nelwyn is survived by her daughter, Kathy Phillips; son, Kim Hann; sister, Cynthia Carriker Williams (Sonny); niece, Lori Tipton; nephew, Kirby Williams (Julie); and many cousins and dear friends.

Jerry Dickinson, 79, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Shelby Regional Medical Center in Center. He was born June 19, 1932 in Port Arthur, Texas to Don B. Dickinson and Anna Mae Morvant Dickinson. Mr. Dickinson served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Shelbyville ISD School Board for over a decade. He attended Shelbyville Methodist Church and was a member of Sam Houston Masonic Lodge #32 in Shelbyville.

Judith Ann Perkins Taylor, 69, of Stuttgart, Arkansas, formerly of Center, Texas, was born July 3, 1942, in Stuttgart to Wayman and Virginia Perkins. She died Monday, March 12, 2012, at Maumelle Health and Rehabilitation Center in Maumelle.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Duane Taylor; her daughter, Michelle Taylor Hoover (husband Danny) of Conway; two sons, Steve Taylor (wife Susan) of Pine Bluff and Jason Taylor (wife Traci) of Whitehouse, Texas; and her grandchildren, Dustin Hoover, Wesley Hoover, Emily Hoover, Lauren Taylor, Zachary Taylor, Ashlee Taylor and Avery Taylor. She is also survived by her sister, Jerry Bise (husband Rodney) of Heber Springs; brother, Art Perkins (wife Susan) of Lonoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Charles Wayman Perkins.

Judy will be remembered for her love of family, friends, flowers and gardening. Her favorite flower was the lily. She also loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She was always looking out for others and trying to help everyone before she helped herself.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at First Christian Church with burial following in Lone Tree Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at Turpin Funeral Home.

James Earl “Butch” Snider, 68, of Center, passed away March 13, 2012 in Nacogdoches. He was born February 8, 1944 to Jessie Snider and Verna Lou Moore Snider. Mr. Snider worked as a fuel mechanic at Texas Utility Mining Company, where he retired after thirty-six years of service. He was a member of Center Missionary Baptist Church in Center. Butch loved fishing, hunting and motorcycle riding with his friends, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Relda “Jane” Busby, 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Corsicana, TX.

Relda Jane was born on November 11, 1922 to Birt Knight & Mary Huffman Marks in Gurdon, AR. She was married to Richard Howard Busby, Sr. and they moved to Center in 1959. They were married for 64 years and had three daughters and one son. As an active member of First Baptist Church in Center for 50 years, Jane taught the Martha Class for many years and served on Bereavement and Prayer Committees. In earlier years she was a member of the Center Garden Club. She enjoyed working in her home for her family, helping others in need, and working alongside her husband while they built a lake home on Toledo Bend for the family and remodeled a historical home in Shelbyville, TX. In her last years Jane faithfully attended Calvary Worship in Corsicana while living with her daughter, Joyce & Family.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard H. Busby, Sr., brothers, James Raymond Marks, Rea Dod Marks and sisters, Ardell Marks McDonald, and Anna Glendyne Marks Beard.

Gladys was a member of the Liberty Hill Baptist Church in San Augustine, Texas. She was a member of The Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She lived most of her life in San Augustine except for the past six years we she lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Donald W. Alford, in Marshall, Texas.

Gladys was a homemaker for most of her life and also worked as a sales clerk in a store in San Augustine for 14 years. Gladys loved nature, especially flowers and gardening. While at home, she enjoyed gospel quartet singing and began singing in her family quartet at an early age. She enjoyed meeting and fellowshipping with people throughout her life. She enjoyed traveling with her immediate family to many beautiful places in the United States including Washington, D.C.; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; and other places.

Memorial services for Judge Crawford Parker, Jr., 83, of Delray, will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Carthage. Dr. Dale Reed and Rick McPherson will officiate at the memorial service. Services are under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. A memorial marker will be placed at Conner Cemetery in Beckville.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hawthorn Funeral Home March 10, 2012. Judge Parker died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at home. Crawford Duane Parker, Jr was born August 13, 1928 in Beckville. He was one of two children born to Crawford Duane Parker Sr. and Euna Beatrice Ellis Parker. He attended school in Beckville, and then the University of Texas. While he did not serve overseas, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. In 1954, he met and married Elizabeth (Beth) Harris, of Beckville. Parker attended law school at South Texas College of Law, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree in 1958. During those years he supported himself and his young family working at J.C. Penney's and as a bricklayer. After graduation Parker, with his wife and two young children, returned to Panola County, where he entered the practice of law. In 1960, he was elected Panola County Attorney, an office he held until 1972 when he declined to run for a fourth term, and elected to enter private practice. He was appointed by the Commissioner’s Court to the newly created County Court at Law and held that position from 1983 until his health forced his retirement in 1996. Throughout his life, Judge Parker was devoted to his family, the practice of law, and the Democratic party. He was a member of the Panola County Bar Association and was a member of the State Bar of Texas for more than fifty years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nelwyn Parker Thurman, son Crawford Duane Parker, III, and great grandson William David Stickel.

Judge Parker is survived by his devoted wife Beth, children Donna Beth and Ron Singleton, Cara Beth Parker, Elaine and Rick McPherson, Penny Lowrey; grandchildren Maribeth and Chris Stickel, Michael Ayers, Billy Ayers, Crawford (Ford) Duane Parker IV, Sarah Beth Parker, Rachel McPherson, Joel McPherson, Daniel McPherson, Justin Lowrey, Jon Lowrey, and Jacob Lowrey; extended family Sharon Thurman Ivey, Erin Ivey Oliver and husband Ben Oliver, Marty and Grace Thurman, Liza and Shane Woodfin, April Thurman, along with many other extended family members.
Honorary pallbearers are Warren Biggs, Billy Carter, Gay Lynn Harris, Dr. Wayne Kyle, Walter Parker, Buck Reid, and Panola County Bar Association members.

The life of Jack Ray Goodwyn, 77, of Longview, will be celebrated on Saturday, March 10, 2012, with interment at 11 a.m. at Rosewood Park Cemetery and a 1:30 p.m. memorial service at First Baptist Church of Longview.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, March 9, 2012, at Welch Funeral Home. He died Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel (Ell) Lout and Armon Gordon Goodwyn and his sisters, Ouida Romano and Peggy Hudgins.

Goodwyn attended public schools in Orange, excelling in sports and academics, and he graduated as valedictorian of Stark High School. He received academic and athletic scholarships from Baylor University, where he played baseball and studied chemistry. Goodwyn received his bachelor's and doctorate degrees in chemistry from Baylor University in 1956 and 1960, respectively.

He married his high school sweetheart, Eloise McKinley, August 15, 1955. The Goodwyns moved to Longview in 1960 when he began his career with Eastman Chemical Co. (formerly a part of Eastman Kodak). His assignments at Eastman included positions of increasing responsibility in research and development, product development, administration and manufacturing. He was the first manager of the environmental affairs group. He retired March 31, 1997, as director of communications and public affairs after a career of nearly 37 years.

Goodwyn was active in church activities and faithfully attended many Bible study classes at First Baptist Church. He also served many years as a member of the deacon group, including one term as chair. He enjoyed the opportunity to serve through the church.

Goodwyn also played a role in the area business community. In 1992, he received both the Longview Chamber of Commerce's prestigious "Award for Service to Public Education" and the Key Communication Award from The Texas Schools Public Relations Association. Goodwyn was also elected a general co-chair when the Greater Longview Organization for Business & Education (GLOBE) was formed in 1989 and served in that position until retirement. GLOBE started as a Longview initiative to foster cooperation between business and education and later spread statewide.
In 2012, he was named Volunteer of the Year for Meals on Wheels. Goodwyn also served on the boards of the Marshall Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Longview United Way. He also served as an advisory board member for the Longview Public Library, Junior League of Longview and the Business Club of LeTourneau University. Goodwyn was regional co-chair and member of the Texas Association of Business and Chambers of Commerce Executive Committee.
His most cherished accomplishment, however, was his family. Goodwyn is survived by his wife, Ella, of Longview, Texas; one daughter, Cindy Goodwyn Hartke and husband, Rick, of Ector, Texas; son, Tom Goodwyn and wife, Ann, of LaQuinta, Calif.; and son, David Goodwyn of Fort Worth, Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kyle and Megan Goodwyn of Coppell, Texas, Matthew Goodwyn of LaQuinta, Calif., Justin and Graham Shannon of Ector, Texas, and Maddie, Kendall and Jack Goodwyn, all of Fort Worth, Texas.

Other survivors are his sister, Needa Reed, and husband, Charles, of Port Arthur; Texas; daughter-in-law, Andrea Goodwyn of Fort Worth; nieces, Norma Thiel of Jackson, Miss., and Grace Blair of Port Arthur; nephews, Dan and Sue Reed of Garland, Texas, Chuck and Leslie Reed of Port Arthur, Texas, Jon and Beth Reed of Groves, Texas, and Graham Stockton of Orange, Texas.

Rebecca Bush, 90, of Roganville, Texas died Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Kirbyville.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Adams EE Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at 2:00 p.m. at Asbury Cemetery in Center, Texas.

A native of Henderson, Texas and longtime resident of Center, she had lived in in Roganville 10 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nayron Bush; daughter, Sara Jane Bush Bowers; grandson, Charles Brady Bowers; and 11 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Bush and wife Judy of Roganville and Robert Edgar and wife Linda of Mt. Graveside services for Mrs. Elaine McCoy Bogan will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 7, 2012, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Stanley, LA. Officiating will be her pastor, the Reverend Dennis LeFleur of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, assisted by Troy N. Terrell. Visitation will be Tuesday evening, 5:00 to 8:00 pm, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA.

Mrs. Bogan passed away Sunday afternoon, at her home, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Mt.Olivet Baptist Church, a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University in Nocogdoches, TX, and was a retired school teacher. She loved to play dominoes and was an avid bowler.

Mrs. Bogan was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bogan; son, Danny Bogan; parents Earl C. McCoy and Vera Mae McCoy Spillyard; sister Elsie M. Walker, and brother, Carlton McCoy.

She is survived by her daughter, Tina B. Stucks and husband, Harold; grandson, Brady Luker; granddaughter, Christy Luker; a special niece and nephew, Sharon and Spencer Stewart, and extended family and friends.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to her good friends and caregivers, Ann Anderson and Irma Woods, who have been with her throughout her illness; and also to Superior Hospice and caregivers, Margie Tyler and Sallie Cheatham.

Services celebrating the lives of Elroy Clayton Brock (83) and Susie Dee White Brock (83), will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012, 2:00 pm, at the Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Logansport, LA. Officiating will be Bro Gene Cox, assisted by Bro. Tommy Brock, Jr. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Cemetery, in Logansport. The family will visit with friends, Friday, March 2, 2012, 5-7 pm, at the funeral home.

Elroy was born, June 23, 1928, in Vernon, TX, to William Alton and Bell Roberts Brock. Susie was born, March 20, 1928, to Henry Clay and Marie Robinson White, in Start, LA. Elroy went to be with the Lord, February 26, 2012, and Susie joined him February 29, 2012. Elroy and Susie enjoyed 64 years of a beautiful marriage and, as God had planned it, He knew that they would not want to be parted. He chose for them to enter His kingdom together, where they will forever be together in joy and peace. What a wonderful love story to be told.

Wonderful times filled the lives of this family. Many hours were spent with Tommy and his father enjoying all sports. Especially, they enjoyed water skiing, golf, and, watching football. Susie would join them on frequent visits to the lake. They loved their grandchildren, dearly. Their house was open to all who would come. Food was on the table and they were ready to visit, at any time. For a long while, they were members of the First Baptist Church of Logansport; however, due to his work in the oil field and location changes, they visited other Baptist Churches around the country, until they became ill and unable to attend. They were fine people who made their family happy and formed lasting relationships with their many friends.

Preceding Elroy in death were his parents; son, William “Bill” C. Brock; grandsons, Jacob and Jonah Cox; brothers, Vandon and Kenneth Brock; Preceding Susie in death were her parents; son, William “Bill” C. Brock; grandsons, Jacob and Jonah Cox; brothers, Joel and Ben Thomas White; sister, Juanita Moore.

He was born December 9, 1919 in Shelby County to James Cleon “Jim” and Sadie (Beasley) Metcalf. He served in US Army. He was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Tyson as a Supervisor for many years.
