Thomas Ferns Dempsey was born in Houston, Texas on September 7,1960 and left us on April 9th, 2025 in Lafayette, Louisiana. His heart remained in the East Texas pines of Timpson. He was 64 years old.
Tommy was one of seven children born to Joseph and Hildred Dempsey. He loved his momma always being present and available. His father Joseph, mother Hildred, sister Cathy, and brother Joey all preceded him in death as well as his brother-in-law Dannie. His sisters Mary, Susan, Colleen, and Maureen share in the loss as well as their families and many others.
Tommy was married to Deanna at the time of his passing and became an endeared member of the family. He never had children until they married and soon he was dad to three and grandpa to two. Kevin, Kerri, Zachary, and their spouses Hailey, Jason, and Amber Jo will greatly miss him as well as his grandchildren Maggie and Charlie. He loved them as his own and they all had his heart. Life revolved around weekends together and many phone calls forging great relationships and memories together that filled his heart.
Tommy took much pleasure in the simple things. He loved watching the Astros, his hunting trips with some of his favorite people, and of course fishing. He felt profound peace at the pond in Timpson and was always striving for the first and biggest fish.
Tom will be missed by his large network in the commercial construction business having worked as a Senior Project Superintendent for ABS in Lafayette over 23 years. As said best by his employer and good friend Chuck, “Tom’s reputation for excellence was unmatched. His leadership, attention to detail, and commitment to quality made a lasting impact not only on the structures he built but on everyone who had the privilege of working with him. His absence leaves a significant void, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
Whether he was known to you as Tommy or Tom his integrity, character, principals, honesty, and commitment were the same. He leaves with honor and will always be the standard of trustworthiness and the strength of character we all should strive to meet. He was a beautiful soul that will be deeply missed.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 in Livingston, Texas.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
