A true country boy at heart, Thomas Paul Wedgeworth spent his lifetime working on the farm and carrying on the legacy of his parents. He was raised in Timpson, where he made his home and raised his family. Tom Paul had a knack for livestock and enjoyed nothing more than working his cattle. He was the first in his family to graduate from college when he earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and forestry at Stephen F. Austin State University. He then began his career in the forestry industry where he remained until his retirement. He also had quite a garden and grew some of the best tomatoes around. When he wasn’t working or farming, he could be found in the woods hunting, yet another reason for him to spend time outside in the beautiful lands that God provides and that he so dearly loved.
In the early 70’s he met and married the love of his life, Pat Anderson and together, they raised their daughters with the same morals that were taught to them. Pat and Tom Paul were active in the community and school. He spent over 20 years on the Timpson ISD School Board, was a former deacon at Corinth Baptist Church and then at Timpson Missionary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Corinth Cemetery Committee.
However, all his accomplishments could never add up to the joy he found when he became “Bops.” He loved his grandchildren with complete dedication. He made all the football games, band concerts and competitions and never failed to show them how much they meant to him. He also enjoyed the family trips they took to Colorado, the national parks and Branson, Missouri.
