September 23, 2019 - The Panola Fillies took their brooms to Mississippi this weekend beating Pearl River in three on Friday (25-14, 25-9, 25-13) and Saturday (25-12, 25-12, 25-12).
On Friday, the Fillies were led offensively by Ashton Brown with eight kills, followed by Mikayla Ware and Mylena Testoni with seven apiece, and Nyah Walker chipped in five. Maria Idjilov dished out 27 assists. Hannah Floyd and Ware led the Fillies defensively with eight digs apiece, while Erin Perez and McKenzie Dimery added four apiece, respectively. At the net, Brown and Idjilov put up two block assists.
Continuing the success on Saturday, the Fillies swept the Wildcats with a balanced attack led by Ware who tallied 10 kills, Walker followed with eight and Idjilov chipped in five. Idjilov dished out 27 assists, while also contributing two service aces. Floyd anchored the defense with 10 digs, Dimery followed with eight, while Ware and Perez added six apiece of their own. The Fillies were a force at the net with five players having at least one block assist. Idjilov led with three block assists, April Brown followed with two, while Ana Caroline Melo, Riley Seegers, and Brown had one apiece, respectively.
The Fillies advance to 12-3 on the season and return to action for their first conference game at home on Tuesday, September 24th against Wharton at 7:00 PM. Please come and show your support! GO FILLIES!
September 19, 2019 - In their first match back at Arthur Johnson Gymnasium, the Panola College Fillies took down Brookhaven College in three sets (25-9, 25-13, 25-12).
Sophomore outside hitter Mikayla Ware hammered home with 19 kills, followed by Nyah Walker with seven and Mylena Testoni chipped in five. Maria Idjilov dished out 29 assists. The The Fillies defense was led by Hannah Floyd and Idjilov who contributed 11 digs apiece, respectively. Riley Seegers and Walker were forces at the net with four block assists apiece.
The Fillies return to action this weekend as they travel to Poplarville, Mississippi to compete against Pearl River on Friday at 6pm and Saturday at 1pm.

September 18, 2019 - With an aggressive offense and united defense, the Panola College Fillies defeated Cedar Valley Tuesday night in Lancaster in three sets (25-15, 25-7, 25-14).
The Fillies offense was led by Sophomore Mikayla Ware with 11 kills, followed by Mylena Testoni with seven, while Riley Seegers and Nyah Walker chipped in six apiece, respectively. Maria Idjilov had 36 assists, while contributing three service aces. Freshman Erin Perez led the defense with 11 digs, followed by Mckenzie Dimery and Ware with 10 apiece. At the net, April Brown put up three block assists and Nyah Walker followed with two of her own.
The Fillies improve to 9-3 on the season and return to action at home Wednesday, September 18th against Brookhaven at 6:00 PM. Please come out to the Fillies home opener and show your support! GO FILLIES!
September 17, 2019 - Panola College is once again named one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by The Great Colleges to Work For program.
The results, released today in a special insert of The Chronicle of Higher Education are based on a survey of 236 colleges and universities. In all, 85 of the 236 institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies, only 25 of these were two-year colleges. Results are reported for small, medium, and large institutions, with Panola College included among the small universities with 500 to 2,999 students.
Panola College was also placed on the Honor Roll as one of only 42 colleges across the nation as a stand out college in its size category.

The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional questionnaire that captured employment data and workplace policies from each institution, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators, and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
“An institution’s “human capital” is its most important asset and often its largest expense. It only makes sense to protect that investment,” said Rich Boyer, Senior Consultant at ModernThink. September 16, 2019 - After a tough loss to Odessa, the Panola College Fillies bounced back this weekend to pick up three wins against Allen, Mountain View, and Victoria College.
Odessa came out strong giving Panola their only loss at the Lee College Invitational Tournament (18-25, 13-25, 25-27). For the Fillies, Mikayla Ware led with eight kills, Mylena Testoni added seven, and Nyah Walker chipped in five. Setter Maria Idjilov dished out 24 assists. Defensively, Hannah Floyd led with 24 digs, Ware followed with 13 and Idjilov added nine of her own.
Panola then rebounded with the sweep of Allen (25-10, 25-10, 25-13). Offensively, Ware led with nine kills, while Walker added five. Idjilov chipped in 28 assists, along with four kills of her own. Ware and Floyd led the defense with a combined 22 digs (11 digs apiece) while Mylena Testoni and Idjilov chipped in six digs, respectively.
The Fillies success continued Saturday with another sweep of Mountain View (26-24, 25-6, 25-14). Ware hammered home 14 kills, Testoni followed with 11 and Walker contributed six. Idjilov ran the offense by adding 30 assists. Ware had her second double-double of the year by also leading the defense with 19 digs, while Floyd followed with nine. Ashton Brown and Testoni were forces at the net with 4 block assists apiece.
The weekend was capped off with a sweep of Victoria (25-11, 25-15, 25-17). Panola used a balanced attack with four players tallying five or more kills in the morning sweep. Ware led with 13, Walker followed with nine, Brown contributed six and April Brown finished with five respectively. Idjilov had 35 assists, while contributing three service aces. Erin Perez anchored the defense with 20 digs, followed by Floyd with nine and Ware with eight. At the net, Walker put up five block assists and Riley Seegers followed with four.
Panola moves to 8-3 on the season and will return to action Tuesday, September 17th as they travel to compete against Cedar Valley at 5:00 PM. GO FILLIES!
September 11, 2019 - Panola College Volleyball improved to 5-2 overall after a two-stop trip to Dallas with a 4-set win over Brookhaven College (22-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-18) and a sweep of North Lake College (25-13, 25-13, 25-9).
Panola was led offensively against Brookhaven by Mikayla Ware who tallied 17 kills, while Mylena Testoni added 16. Maria Idjilov ran the offense contributing 44 assists. At the net, Testoni had three block assists, while Riley Seegers and Ashton Brown added two, respectively. Ware led the defense with 15 digs, while Hannah Floyd dished out 12 of her own.
The Fillies then swept North Lake College with a balanced attack led again by Ware with 17 kills, Ashton Brown added seven, and Carol Melo chipped in six. Idjilov had 30 assists while being one dig short of notching a double-double with nine digs. Nyah Walker was also a force at the net assisting in five blocks, and Floyd led the defense with 17 digs.
The Fillies will return to action this weekend as they travel to compete in the Lee College Tournament facing Odessa at 11 AM and Allen at 5 PM on Friday, September 13th. The following day, the Fillies take on Mountain View at 11 AM and Victoria at 1 PM. Go Fillies!
September 11, 2019 - Panola College Choral singers will perform with other collegiate singers from around the region in a performance of “Look at the World ii” at 7 p.m., Sunday, September 15. The concert will be held at First Baptist Church, 543 Ockley Drive, Shreveport, La.
The Shreveport Symphony, Metropolitan Opera Tenor David Portillo, Actress Angelique Feaster Evans, 2019 American Idol finalist Walker Burroughs, and 300 collegiate singers from around the Ark-La-Tex will perform under the direction of conductor Randy Edwards.
“This will be an exciting evening of glorious music, ranging from classical to contemporary,” said Sandra Bauer, Panola College professor of vocal music.
Ticket prices range from $10 to $100. Profits from this event support multiple charitable causes including the Volunteers of America of North Louisiana, the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, church and collegiate choral programs in the Ark-La-Tex, and other performing arts endeavors in the region.

September 4, 2019 - The Panola College Fillies fell short on Tuesday to Temple in a close five set match (25-21, 23-25, 25-12, 18-25, 13-15).
Offensively, Mikayla Ware led with 17 kills, while Mylena Testoni and Nyah Walker followed with 10 each. Maria Idjilov dished out 47 assists for the night.
At the net, April Brown and Idjilov chipped in two block assists. Libero Hannah Floyd and Ware led the defense with 18 digs a piece, while Idjilov followed with 14.
"Tonight was a tough loss but something our team will grow and learn from," said Head Coach Nicole Thorn. "We knew Temple would come out and play well and in order to beat them, we needed to match or exceed their energy and unfortunately we did not do that tonight. They exposed some of our weaknesses which is great because it gives us some looks on what else we need to work on. We have to remember, it's early in the season and thankfully we have time to get better at some of these things before we start conference play. Congratulations to Temple, they are a great team and played very well tonight."
The Fillies will return to action next week as they travel to Brookhaven and Northlake College for matches at 3pm and 7pm on Tuesday, September 10th. Go Fillies!

September 3, 2019 - Panola College will present Agatha Christie’s masterpiece – “And Then There Were None” as its annual dinner theatre production on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 20-21, in the Liz Hedges Studio Theatre. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for dinner, and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. A Sunday, Sept. 22 matinee performance will feature dessert. Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. with the performance to begin at 1:30 p.m.
The story begins when ten strangers, apparently with little in common, are lured to an island mansion off the coast of Devon by the mysterious U.N. Owen. Over dinner, a record begins to play, and the voice of an unseen host accuses each person of murder. Trapped on the island, one by one, they start to die by methods outlined in the children’s poem, “Ten Little Soldier Boys.” The tension escalates as the survivors realize the killer is not only among them but is preparing to strike again… and again...until there are none left alive. The play, based on Christie’s book of the same title, was originally published in 1939, and is the world’s best-selling murder-mystery novel. Filled with twists and turns from the Queen of Crime, the play provides an exciting evening of suspense and horror.

Sunday’s Dessert Matinee costs are $20 – adults, $15 – Panola faculty and staff, and $12.50 – seniors and children.
