June 20, 2023 - On Saturday June 17 at approximately 2:45pm the Center Fire Department was notified of a fire at the Portacool Manufacturing Plant located at 711 FM 2468.
Center Fire Dept immediately responded and found heavy smoke coming from the structure and a second page was sent out asking for all available help. The fire began to spread quickly and ultimately the main production building was a total loss.
August 11, 2022 - Center Fire Chief Keith Byndom wants city of Center residents to be aware the city of Center is part of the countywide burn ban.
Those who violate the burn ban are subject to potential penalties and as a result of citations may have to face the municipal court judge or justice of the peace.
August 17, 2016 - On August 10 a silver alert was issued for my dad, VK Byndom, who hadn't been seen or heard from since he left a church function the previous night. He became disoriented and took a wrong turn and was found almost twenty hours later extremely disoriented and dehydrated in Newton County off Old Salem Rd.
I want to say thanks to the Shelby County Deputies and dispatchers, Local Texas DPS Troopers, Center PD, Center Fire Department, and my family and friends for helping in the search for my Dad.
