November 7, 2017 - (Album) - Focused Care of Center got into the Halloween spirit hosting an employee costume contest with the winner receiving a Halloween wreath of candy. First place went to Reagan Link who dressed as a ninja. Her son was also dressed as a ninja.
Later in the day trick-or-treaters were invited to visit the facility residents wearing their best costumes. After traveling the halls, the trick-or-treaters and residents gathered in the activity room of Focused Care Center for a costume contest.
The judges included Lakendra Weir, Social Worker; Rose Davis, Resident; and Holly Adams, Administrator. The judges were presented with a variety of great costumes to look at and choose from.
The results are as follows:
0-5 category the winner was Karson Link - Ninja.
6-9 category the winner was Kyra Lathan - Spider Queen.
10 and Up category Logan Smith - Giant Spider.
Each of the winners was presented with a bag of sweets or wreath of sweets to take home.
November 3, 2017 - The last day of the Pinecone and Mistletoe Market is Saturday, November 4th at the John D. Windham Civic Center from 10am until 4pm. The DRT ladies have setup a great event with many wonderful vendors. While shopping enjoy a pulled pork sandwich ($6) for lunch or a baked potato ($6). For a special lunch treat get a baked potato with pulled pork added ($7) - it's delicious. Be sure to come see all the beautiful Christmas items and more at the Pinecone and Mistletoe Market. There is a $5 admission which includes chances to win door prizes from the vendors!
November 2, 2017 - The Center Police Department Ladies Auxiliary fall wreath winner has been announced.
During the Halloween in the Hole event held at the Center High School baseball field, the drawing was held.
Officer Brian Wright was chosen to draw the name of the winner and the winner of the fall wreath was Melissa Crouch.
There is still time to purchase tickets for the Christmas wreath. Tickets can be purchased for $1 at the Center Police Department. The drawing for it will be held after Center's Christmas Parade, December 2nd.

November 1, 2017 - Center Garden Club has selected for its “One Wonder” feature the absolutely stunning Japanese persimmon tree, located at 212 Houston Street in Center, the family home of Marilyn Ballard and her late husband, Larry Ballard. Marilyn noted that historical accounts of her house indicate that this Japanese persimmon was planted in 1897—one hundred and twenty years ago. It is such a beauty, an autumnal delight: a grand -- and as Halloween approaches, leafless tree with its hundreds of orange globes set against the sky, especially the night sky. It is definitely “One Wonder” that deserves viewing!

October 31, 2017 - The staff at Cline Family Medicine in Center got into Halloween character with family fun friendly costumes to greet and treat patients coming into the office Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
The employees voted on who had the best costume and Amber Chisenhall's version of Cruella De Vil won the most votes. With Cruella is a Dalmatian puppy (Lani Metcalf.)
Prior to Halloween the Cline Family crew also had a pumpkin decorating contest and patients voted on their favorite. The winning pumpkin was by Candace Carter who created a real pumpkin turned into a carriage just like the one portrayed in Cinderella. Carter is the full time nurse practioner seeing children.
October 31, 2017 - The Senior Nutrition Site hosted a Halloween Costume Contest on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 and Ms Sylvia Hearn won 1st place with her Indian costume. Bobbie Nutt took runner up with her clown costume. Ms. Nutt said her mother made her clown costume when she was in high school and the judges felt the effects of time added character to her "Nutty Clown" costume.
The crowd favorite award went to Dicky Gilchrist who was the man behind the werewolf mask.
October 31, 2017 - Due to the forecasted rain, we are forced to postpone tonight’s movie in the park Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Stay tuned for a re-scheduled date.
October 26, 2017 - Farmers State Bank wants to invite you and your family to join us for a FREE Movie in the Park on Halloween Night, October 31st. Bring your favorite blanket and chair, sit back and enjoy the double feature - 6:30pm Hocus Pocus and 8:30pm The Others. Free popcorn will be made fresh for everyone to enjoy.

October 27, 2017 - U.S. Army PVT Dylan Barbee, a 2017 graduated of Tenaha High School, completed boot camp and graduated from A.I.T. training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on October 27, 2017 as a combat engineer.
Barbee is the son of Jennifer Hass and his fiance is Crystal McDonald. Proud of him are his brothers Trenton Hass, Brandon Soto, Cody Foshee, and Hunter Wagstaff. He is the grandson of Robert and Gina Bush, and Doug and Linda Hass.
Barbee leaves Saturday for his first duty station in Hawaii.
His family is very proud of him and this accomplishment. His brothers Trenton and Cody were unable to attend his graduation due to their previous commitment to Tenaha football. Both played the game against Grapeland to honor him and the Tenaha Tigers won 49-0.
October 27, 2017 - Center Garden Club has a new community project that will focus on the beauty and wonders of nature by featuring Shelby County’s variety of plants. Biweekly, the club’s civic committee will choose a plant to feature as “One Wonder” among the many throughout Shelby County. The first selection is the large pyracantha (or firethorn) shrub located on the terrace at 303 Tenaha Street in Center, Texas, the home of Toni Crowley. Ms Crowley noted that the magnificent berries of the pyracantha (or firethorn), transition from yellow to orange to red in the fall and winter. As we should expect now, it is beautifully ablaze for all who pass by on Tenaha Street.
