5K Event Collects 175 Cans of Food

March 21, 2016 - As a part of the Biggest Loser competition, the Shelby County Fit Fun Run & Walk 5K was held on Saturday, March 19, 2016  at the Center Park Pond Pavilion behind Panola College. 42 participants including men, women and children arrived for the event benefiting the Shelby County Outreach Ministries.

The entry fee consisted of canned items and the total amount collected was 175 cans. These cans were then contributed to the Shelby County Outreach Ministries.

Jheri-Lynn McSwain, Agrilife Extension Agent, organized the event.

Sponsors included Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Nacogdoches Medical Center who provided pedometers to the first 25 entries.

The next 5K event is set for April 16th.
