18-wheeler Crashes on FM 138

September 9, 2016 - FM 138 west of FM 1645 was the scene of an 18-wheeler crash Friday, September 9, 2016.

Texas Department of Public Safety State Troopers were dispatched to the scene as well as a Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety State Trooper Brent Murray, at 6:40am a white 2009 Peterbilt owned by Premier Pressure of Longview and driven by Michael Dale Hemken, 42, of Waskom was traveling eastbound on FM 138 just over 1/4 mile from FM 1645.

Hemken failed to drive in a single lane and struck a guardrail with the trailer he was hauling. This caused Hemken to lose control of the truck which left the roadway to the right and struck a tree.

No injuries were reported at the scene and Hemken was issued a citation for fail to drive in a single lane.

The eastbound side of the roadway was blocked by a tree until the scene was able to be cleared. West Shelby Volunteer Fire Department and TxDOT assisted with traffic control at the scene. DPS Trooper Murray was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Trooper Jimmy Faulkner and Trooper Taylor Buster.
