2026 Timpson Frontier Days Parade Has Strong Turnout

June 28, 2026 - (Parade Album) - The Timpson Frontier Days parade had a strong attendance Saturday, June 27, 2026, and the opening ceremonies featured public officials from city to state levels.

Tracy Broadway, Justice of the Peace for Precinct 5 and acting Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4, was emcee for the event.

The parade traveled Park Plaza Street led by Constable Precinct 5, Timpson Volunteer Ambulance Service and Timpson Volunteer Fire Department (TVFD). TVFD featured their newest addition to their fleet in that of a 3,000 gallon tanker truck made possible through a grant from Texas Forest Service.

Linda McDaniel rode the one horse that was in the parade this year, as she has done since 1982, and she stated that she and her husband would celebrate their anniversary on July 6 and riding in the Frontier Days parade was their anniversary ride. She is 82 years and was riding her 22 year-old-horse “Lakota.”

After the parade completed, Timpson mayor Cedric Grace was invited to offer an opening prayer.

Grace welcomed every person, vendor, and participant in Frontier Days, “You’re welcome, and we appreciate you and we’re looking forward to making it better each year.”

Sherri Strahan then performed the National Anthem to the enjoyment of all.

Paul Smith, Timpson Area Chamber of Commerce, also welcomed all in attendance of Frontier Days on its 64th year.

“We hope you have a great time today, we’ve got a lot of activities out here, a lot of activities coming up. Enjoy the carnival, enjoy all of the vendors here,” said Smith.

He further encouraged all to visit the vendor tables and the carnival, and reminded everyone about the evening’s events including the Timpson ISD cheerleaders and twirlers, cake auction and live music of Zach Mason and the Jars.

“Timpson’s always danced in the streets and I think as far as I know we’re probably about the last town that does that, so let’s get together and continue to dance in the street,” said Smith.

He reminded all present that Tie and Timber Lodge would be hosting a community service at 6:30pm on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Joanne Shofner, District 11 State Representative, wished everyone a “Happy Fourth of July,” and mentioned a week’s worth of celebration.

Shofner stated, “We are so grateful for our America, there’s nowhere else in all of history was there a country where the power went to the people.”

She further encouraged everyone to have a wonderful time in Timpson.
