936 Crossfit Ribbon Cutting Event Held at New Location

January 16, 2016 - 936 Crossfit held their ribbon cutting event on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at their new location at 139 Catco Drive in Center. The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors helped to introduce Grant Belrose, 936 Crossfit Owner, to visitors attending the ribbon cutting event.

"The biggest question I get is, 'what is crossfit?' and 'what do we do?' and really the best way to answer that is to get in here and try," said Belrose. "What we define crossfit as, we have three big bullet points of crossfit and that's functional movement, constantly varied and high intensity."

Belrose explained you don't have to be in his facility to do a crossfit workout, as it can be done anywhere. The type of workout is different in that it doesn't rely on machines for the most part, instead it is more about body motion.

"We're really big on functional movement, and that means as far as just picking stuff up, putting stuff overhead, moving light weights for a long period of time," said Belrose.

One thing clients can look forward to is a constantly changing workout program. Since the business first opened February 2, 2015, Belrose says members who started during that time have rarely done the same workout twice, because of the variety offered.

"I'm not going to sugar coat it, it's not for everyone, but it is for anyone," said Belrose. "Some people have tried it, and they're fit and they come in here, and they don't like it. That's fine with me, you like to do what you workout and then I like to do mine. It's not for you, and that's perfectly fine, but it is for anyone to try."

Additionally, 936 Crossfit has a fitness program for children, "Crossfit Kids is a program we started just to get kids active you know and we like to keep fitness fun. So, a lot of times what we do in here are games"

Belrose explained, starting a good fitness foundation with children will help them to have a better health and fitness awareness as they get older.

During the ribbon cutting event, Belrose introduced his mother Teresa Belrose who owns Teresa's Tumblers which offers tumbling classes for ages three and up; his fiance Tyler Paige, who is also a trainer with 936 Crossfit; and Joy Wilburn, on staff masseuse.

936 Crossfit is open all week. Monday, Wednesday and Friday there are classes at 5am and 6am. All week there are classes at 8am, 12-noon, 4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm.
