Across the Preacher’s Desk:The Cares of Life

May 15, 2019 - Ruth Graham wrote a book entitled, “In Every Pew Sits A Broken Heart.” That is something that all of us need to remember from time to time.

We need to keep in mind one very familiar passage from I Peter chapter 5 and verse 7. Peter writes, “Casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.

You and I are in this verse! There is so much in our world that is impersonal. We live in an age of bigness and numbers. Everyone wants to know “the last four of your social” when you call wanting information.

But, God still knows you and he knows me as individuals. God doesn’t keep track of us by a computer or an account number. You see, it’s just the way we read in John chapter 10, he knows us.

However, not only are we in that verse as individuals in I peter chapter 5, but our cares, our concerns and our problems are in that verse. Every care that you and I are carrying is in that passage. Cares that can often be roadblocks to blessings. Yet, Peter tells us to cast our cares upon Jesus. With our cares removed we can truly experience the joy of the Lord.

Never forget, no one cares like Jesus and no one understands like Jesus. For those who will surrender their life to Him, obey His commands, and live His kind of life, Jesus will carry their burdens. The question is, are you living life Jesus’ way?

It’s something to think about… tbp
