Annual What-A-Melon Festival Set for July 6th-9th

June 8, 2016 (Schedule Flyer) - The 27th Annual What-A-Melon festival is rolling into downtown Center, Texas starting July 6th for 4 days of fun in the sun! The four days of festivities, July 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th, is looking for participants to join in and help make this the best What-A-Melon Festival ever.

The What-A-Melon Festival's biggest attraction, the Largest Watermelon Contest, has been moved to Thursday evening and the winning melon will be on display for festival visitors to see and have photos made with. The weigh-in will be July 7th at 5pm under the big tent following be entertainment on the stage.

The Pet Show will be held July 8th along with more entertainment on the stage Tejano style starting at 7pm.

The What-A-Melon Fun Run/5K will jumpstart Saturday's activities at 7am. Register at www.runsignup.com and proceeds from the run will benefit the Fannie Brown Booth Memorial Library. The What-A-Melon Pageant has been moved to Saturday morning at 10am. To register, contact Tonya Bailey at 936-598-3793. Cruise on by and see the Car Show in the First Baptist Church Parking Lot starting at 3pm.

The fan favorites - Seed Spitting Contest and Speed Eating Contest is set for 4pm. Participants are invited to also participate in the Watermelon Decorating Competition which requires a real watermelon. Let your creative juices follow and carve a melon or just decorate it to enter into the contest.
