February 2, 2018 - My name is Tom Bellmyer and I am seeking the position of Shelby County Commissioner, Pct. 4. My family and I came to the Folsom Chapel area of Shelby County in 1963 and began our cow/calf and hay operation that I continue to run today.
I recently retired from a 45+ year construction career in the oil and gas industry. The last 15 years of my career I managed or was a member of construction management teams overseeing large multimillion dollar projects. This management background affords me the experience and knowledge to effectively work with the Judge and Commissioners to make good sound decisions for the citizens of Shelby County. Within Pct. 4, I see a need to make improvements to the road, culvert and bridge infrastructure to assure home/property owners, US Postal, church and school buses have safe and reliable all weather, all year-round access. In times of emergency the Sheriff, Constable, Fire and Ambulance require and should have a reliable road system for those first responders to use. Upgrading and increasing the road maintenance frequency will support our rural chicken, timber and cattle producers to manage and ship their product to market regardless of the weather.
