Burkhalter Announces Candidacy for Constable Pct 3

January 4, 2016 - My name is Scott Burkhalter, I am announcing my candidacy for the Office of Constable for Pct. 3, and believe that I am the right candidate for the job. I have been certified as a Peace Officer since June of 2005, and have been working the streets of Shelby County since that time.

I have been working as a Peace Officer for a little over 10 years to date. l was promoted to Sergeant in 2009, as well as tasked with working a narcotics detection dog the same month for the Center Police Department, and have been doing both since that time.

I am now wanting the office of Constable for Pct.3 in Joaquin to serve the community that I live in and raise my children in. I love where I live and want to continue to make our community great, by protecting and serving where I live, and keeping God first in everything that I do.

I have been a resident in Joaquin for many years, and most of them being in the city limits, where I currently live. I pledge to do right by the people and to be just in every decision made, and to be a mentor for the kids of our community. I have participated in several kids functions as a Peace Officer, and have been a speaker to many classes of all grades, here in Center.

This is also including boys and girls clubs, whether it be at a church, school or library. I love to be involved in kid's functions, because I believe that it's important for them to see a Peace Officer there, that's including our Rams football!

I pledge to put a leash on the crime that we have in Joaquin, crimes against persons or property, and to work with the people to get this job done. This includes, but is not limited to, the drugs that are coming in and destroying families and the future of our children. In my experience, all crimes revolve around a drug problem, and if a leash is put on drugs, then other crimes will decrease. I have a plan to get this job done, and if I say it, I will do it. I am a firm believer in "my word is my bond," and I always keep my word.

I want to encourage Everyone, especially in Joaquin, to get out and vote. We need the right people in Office these next four years, people that are qualified for the job they're running for, and I'll see you at the polls.
