July 10, 2020 - The Carthage Music Club invites the public to come and enjoy a nostalgic evening as we present Dr. Shellie O'Neal in her one-woman show 'God Bless America: A World War II Radio Hour' on Saturday, July 18th at 7pm in the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Dr. O'Neal, a Carthage native, has served as the Chair of Theatre for Navarro College for 19 years and has written 26 plays to date.

In 'God Bless America: A World War II Radio Hour', Dr. O'Neal portrays Sally Brennan, a fictitious radio personality, and the name of her on-air program is "Singin' with Sister Sally." (Sally isn't a nun...she has three older brothers.) The play focuses on our national anthems and hymns and their histories and also features authentic 1940's radio commercials. The play explores the principles upon which our nation was founded and includes quotes from our presidents and founding fathers as well.

The public is invited to attend and to bring any memorabilia and/or pictures from the World War II era you'd like to share. We will have a secure table set up for you to display your items. Please come andenjoy the play and the reception following.
