September 16, 2025 - Shelby County 4-H student Cassie Nutt competed in the East Texas State Fair Junior Steer Show on Sunday, September 7 in Athens at the Henderson County Fair Complex.
With her Charolais named 1061-Brandon weighing 724 lbs, she won Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer overall out of 175 competitors. She also won first in class and Champion Charolais Exotic Market Steer.
Brandon was sired by NLB(BDR x Solid Gold/HL620) and dam 446 (That's Right x CP41). He was bred by Parker Cattle and sold by Horn Livestock, Brandon Horn.
Cassie Nutt also won Intermediate Showmanship Champion.
Cassie is the daughter of Jerrod and Fernanda Nutt of Center and her parents shared, "We are so proud of you Cassie Lyn, you had a heck of a day and worked hard! Thank you to everyone who had a part and helped us."
