Center and Joaquin Firemen Fill the Boot for MDA, Raise Over $5,000

September 2, 2015 - Shelby County firemen took to the streets on Saturday morning, August 29th to fill the boot to fight muscle disease. Firemen have been supporting the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for 60 years strong.

The two departments, Center Volunteer Fire Department and the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department, both stood in the heat to help raise money for MDA. Center firemen raised $3,560 thanks to giving motorists traveling through the downtown square area. Joaquin firemen setup at the intersection of US 84 and SH 7 to give travelers a chance to support the worthy cause as well. Joaquin firemen raised $1,670.

The firemen thank eveyone who donated making their volunteer time in the heat worth while.
