November 10, 2025 - Members of the Center Garden Club assembled for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday October 8, 2025, in the County Agriculture Extension Building. Carolyn Bounds, president, conducted a short business meeting during which plans were confirmed for decorating the eight black urns around the square for the fall season.
The program for this occasion was “Frontier Medicine" and was skillfully presented by Maggie Casto and Gail Sholar, members of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Much practical information was given on how medical problems were handled by our ancestors. Examples were shared of actual ingredients as well as mounted photos and books on the subject. Thanks to these ladies we learned about common plants and weeds that we too can use for our aliments.
The beautiful Indian Summer we are experiencing was in evidence by the décor in the meeting room. Refreshments of sandwiches and sweets, prepared by hostesses Carole Chance and Janette Wittmann were enjoyed by members and four guests.
