Center HS District Academic UIL Results

April 8, 2016 - The UIL Academic District tournament was held in Rusk on Tuesday, April 5th.

In Accounting, Stephanie Presa placed sixth.

In Computer Applications, Brianna Cox is the district champion and Hugo Carrasco placed sixth

In Computer Science, Hugo Carrasco placed fourth and qualified as the Regional alternate. 

In Headline Writing, Brian Mendoza placed fifth.

In Literary Criticism, Deja Goodwin won second and Destiny McKinney was third. They both qualified for Regionals. The Literary Criticism team of Goodwin, McKinney, Chloe Gipson, and Fabiola Landin won the District Team Championship and also qualified for the Regional tournament. 

In Mathematics, Zoey Stuever took the gold and qualified for Regionals and Zack Ritter took fourth and qualified as the Regional Alternate. The Mathematics Team of Stuever, Ritter, Eugene Nunez and Matt Midkiff won the District Team Championship and also qualified for the Regional tournament. In Number Sense, Zoey Stuever qualified for Regionals with her third place finish and Matt Midkiff finished sixth.

In News Writing, Brian Mendoza finished fifth.

In Prose Interpretation, Chloe Gipson qualified for Regionals, finishing third.

In Poetry, Julie Garcia placed third and qualified for Regionals. 

In Ready Writing, Mallory Nehring qualified for Regionals placing third and Destiny McKinney finished fourth and qualified as the Regional alternate.

In Social Studies, Jaime Cervantes placed fourth.

The Science Team of Michael Stanford, Jessica Hale, Pablo Valdez, Rylee Morris, Karen Salazar and Zoey Stuever won the District Team Championship and qualified for Regionals. Michael Stanford finished second, Jessica Hale finished fourth, Pablo Valdez finished fifth individually. Michael Stanford won the top Physics gold.

The Regional Qualifiers will be traveling to Sam Houston State University on Friday, April 22nd.
