Center ISD Letter from Superintendent: Virtual Instruction Ends Oct. 26

Additional Rules for Students Receiving Virtual Instruction

October 7, 2020 - The Center Independent School District, in an effort to improve our educational environment will be making the following changes to our instructional program. During the first six weeks of school, our data indicated a large number of students with either poor virtual attendance, poor academic performance or both. Many of our students are failing multiple courses/subjects while receiving virtual instruction. We also have many students who have not been in attendance for virtual school. Given this information, Center ISD has decided to end virtual instruction. Effective Monday, October 26, 2020 all instruction for Center ISD will be face to face.

This decision was made due to the fact that:

--- the number of students that are failing one or more classes.
--- the number of students that have an attendance rate of below 95%.
--- the number of students that are failing a STAAR/EOC class.
--- the number of seniors that are failing one or more classes required for graduation.

Center Independent School District will be contacting the families of students that are failing one or more classes/subjects. Parents who do not wish to bring their students back to face to face instruction have the following options from which to choose:

  • Withdraw their child to a certified homeschool curriculum, and be able to prove to the campus what you are doing.
  • Enroll in another online school.
  • Transfer to another district.

Center Independent School District will be contacting the families of students who chose virtual instruction by mail and by phone to notify you prior to October 19, 2020.

We look forward to seeing our students return to school so that we can better serve them and help them be successful. If your child is currently learning virtually, please be prepared to make a decision regarding your student and the best educational decision for them.

Thank you for working with us to provide the best educational options for your child. If you have concerns regarding COV1D-I9 and the Center ISD protocols, please go to our website at www.centerisd.org and read our plan. You are also free to contact your child's principal with other questions.
