Center MS JCC Members Donate to Local Organization

May 20, 2024 - Shelby County Junior Chamber of Commerce (JCC) members at Center Middle School presented Divine Ministries with a donation check on Monday, May 20, 2024.

A check in the amount of $1,200 was donated by the JCC’s to Divine Ministries in support of the organizations efforts to help the community.

Jay Hill, JCC sponsor, explained the fundraiser was accomplished via a “Sneaker Ball” dance that was hosted by the JCC’s and one was the group decided to utilize the funds was to contribute to a non-profit organization.

“We donated to several different spots providing lunch, but part of the money we wanted to give back to you,”said Hill. “We know that you do so much for the community.”

The group presented Carpenter with her check to which she exclaimed, “Oh, Wow!”

Carpenter explained some of what Divine Ministries Inc. offers to the community.

“We do take in donations for clothing, baby pampers, baby food, baby milk,”said Lisa Carpenter, With Divine Ministries Outreach Inc. 

The organization is located on Shelbyville Street in Center, and has been there four years.

“I have a lot of people that come in there that need it,” said Carpenter. 

A once a year community feeding event is provided at Perry Sampson Park and Carpenter said that has been being offered for the past 13 years, snd the community can look forward to this event during the summer with activities for children and spiritual speakers.

The Divine Ministry is located at 518 Shelbyville Street in Center.

In addition to this generous donation, the JCC’s have so far delivered a Chick-Fil-A lunch to the Center Police Department and Subway to Pine Grove Nursing Center.
