Center MS Staff, Students, Community Memorialize Lexi Jones (Video)

February 26, 2019 - (Photos by Scott Flowers and Austin Ford) - Center Middle School (CMS) faculty, students and members of the community gathered at the CMS campus on Tuesday to remember Lexi Jones.

Jones, a seventh grade student, recently passed on Friday, February 22, 2019, unexpectedly. 

A crowd gathered at around 6pm in front of the school cafeteria. The program opened with Principal Jake Henson welcoming everyone as yellow balloons were passed around to all in attendance.

Bishop Howard Cloudy, Sr. was then introduced to give an opening prayer. Speaking on behalf of Jones' family were her brothers Ronnie Williams, O'Neal Jones, and J'Von Jones . According to Williams, the family has intentions to establish a scholarship fund in the name of Lexi Jones.

Coach Beth Nichols spoke on behalf of the school and staff. She praised Lexi's positive attitude, determination to do a good job. She described her as a coaches dream.

Principal Henson called forth several of Lexi's fellow students to help present her family with two framed volleyball and basketball jerseys that were Lexi's. Once the jerseys were presented to her family, everyone shared a moment of silence.

After that, Principal Henson announced it was time to release the balloons and remember to, "Live Like Lexi."
