April 1, 2021 - Center Police Department officers and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) State Troopers gathered before the Center Police Department in honor of DPS Trooper Chad Walker on Thursday, April 1, 2021.
This was in response to the request of Texas Governor Greg Abbott for Texas law enforcement officers to turn on their red and blue flashing lights for one minute at 1pm.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Trooper Walker stopped to assist a driver near Mexia on March 26 when he was shot multiple times. He was transported to Baylor Scott and White – Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, where he later died from his injuries.
In his final lifesaving act, Trooper Walker’s organs were donated to save others.
