Center Team Tennis Season Ends at Region Semifinals

November 3, 2015 - The Center Tennis Teams season came to an end this past weekend at the region 3 team tennis championships held in Willis, TX.  The tournament was comprised of eight teams from four areas and they were seeded as follows:  #1 Spring hill, #2 Center, #3 Lampasas, #4 Liberty Hill and the remaining teams were Groesbeck, Madisonville, Splendora and China Spring.  The riders would face Madisonville in the region quarterfinals and would come away with a 10-1 victory.  This placed the riders in the region semifinals to face Lampasas.

The semifinals would begin late after rain delays with seven doubles matches.  Three boys doubles, three girls doubles and one mixed doubles match.  The riders came away with two wins and five losses in doubles with two of those losses coming in split sets and a ten point tiebreaker to determine the match.  After doubles, six boys singles and six girls singles matches would be played to determine the final outcome with lampasas only needing to win five of those matches to advance.  The riders were hoping to come away with five of the first seven singles matches to bring the team totals back to an even 7-7, but fell short with three more singles matches going to split sets and losing the ten point tiebreaker.  This gave the Lampasas Badgers a 9-5 lead and only needing one more match to advance.  Out of the remaining five matches on the court, Center had leads in three but Lampasas had a commanding lead in one of those remaining matches and quickly sealed the riders fate.
