Charles “Brick” Dickerson Announces Candidacy for District Judge

February 16, 2016 - Charles “Brick” Dickerson, Judge of the 123rd Judicial District of Texas, comprised of Panola and Shelby Counties has announced that he is seeking re-election for the term of office to begin on January 1, 2017. He was elected for a four year term commencing on January 1, 2013.

Prior to election he practiced law for over 39 years, generally in the East Texas area, including a number of interstate litigations. He has been admitted to the bar for federal court system in the Eastern District of Texas, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans, and the11th Circuit Court of Appeal in Atlanta Georgia. He has a broad experience in oil and gas, criminal, domestic, and civil law. He also worked as counsel and title examiner for lease acquisition for Frank’s Petroleum in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He was reared in the community of Deadwood in Panola County, being the son of Lawrence C. Dickerson Sr. and Mellie Briggs Dickerson, and is a life long resident of Panola County, except for absences necessary for education and military service.

He attended Carthage High School, Panola College, the University of Southwest Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin University, and South Texas College of Law. While attending law school he worked as a deputy sheriff in Harris County and served as bailiff of the 11th Judicial District Court of Harris County. He graduated Sent from my iPhone

He married Vicki S. Payne Dickerson in 1968 and they currently reside in Carthage. They have one daughter and four grand children. Vicki was an instructor of nursing at Panola College for thirty years.

Judge Dickerson believes that he has the work ethic and broad experience necessary to continue to serve as District Judge of a trial court of general jurisdiction. The district court hears and makes rulings in felony cases, domestic relations cases (divorce and child custody) oil and gas matters, land suits, condemnation suits, auto accidents, and many more categories of civil cases.
