Cheatwood Announces Candidacy for Precinct 3 Commissioner

January 4, 2024 - I, David Cheatwood, am seeking office for Shelby County Commissioner, Precinct 3 as a Republican Candidate. I have been a lifelong resident of Shelby County, Joaquin, TX. My wife, Jennifer, and I have been married for over 22 years. I have 3 children Tanner, Maddisyn and Ryleigh.

I was employed for over 15 years with Shelby County Road and Bridge until Sept. 2022. I have been employed with Tri-State Vacuum for the past year. I currently hold a Class A CDL. I have continued to operate and haul heavy equipment as needed for the company.

I had the privilege of working under 3 different Commissioners as a Supervisor while employed with Shelby County. I have personal knowledge of all roads located within Precinct 3. I worked alongside Mr. Charles Barr during the last election to learn about our budget. I have experience with planning and overseeing day-to-day operations within Precinct 3.

As your Commissioner, I will not make promises I cannot keep. However, I can guarantee to make myself and/or crew available to the citizens whenever need arises. My plans as your Commissioner are to better prepare our roads for whatever Mother Nature sends our way. Here are a few things I will implement if elected.

  • re-place and clean culverts as needed
  • ditches pulled and cleaned out for better flow of water after it rains
  • brush/limbs cut back on our roads to make them passable when meeting oncoming traffic
  • keep trash picked up along our roads
  • utilize equipment everyday to meet the needs of our citizens
  • repair/rebuild roads as needed

As your Commissioner I will stand in the best interest of the citizens of Shelby County. I will be for the people of Precinct 3. I can promise to bring you the best work ethics inside the Court Room as well as outside.

I would love the opportunity to show the Citizens of Precinct 3 how much pride I have for our county.

Thank you for your consideration,
David Cheatwood
