Chris Koltonski Announces Candidacy for Shelbyville School Board

April 22, 2022 - My name is Chris Koltonski and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Shelbyville ISD School Board. I am proud to be a life-long resident of Shelbyville. I am a member of the graduating class of 2001 and my wife, Whitney, is a 2002 graduate. Prior to starting our own family we made the decision to remain in our home town and raise our children as Dragons.

I have a heart of service for my community. I have been a member of the Shelbyville Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years and only recently stepped down from 8 years of serving as Fire Chief to spend more time with my family. I have been employed by Deep East Texas Electric Cooperative for 16 years. I have served in my current position as Right of Way supervisor for 9 years and I enjoy working with our consumers on a daily basis. Even before becoming a parent myself, I enjoyed coaching youth league baseball and football, and I am excited to have become involved in Shelbyville Youth Sports once again as my children have started participating.

I have served on the SISD school board for six years, having been elected prior to my own children becoming students. Our daughter is now in 1st grade and our son is in Pre K, and I hope to continue to positively serve the SISD community as my children continue to grow. I am proud to have been involved in district wide improvements such as safer and more organized drop off and pick up procedures, structural and classroom renovations, upgraded athletic facilities, and expansion of our ag department and programs just to name a few. Such expansions and improvements have all been made without further impact on taxpayer dollars.

For six years it has been my honor and privilege to work alongside what I consider to be the best faculty, staff and administration anywhere around. In addition to the hard work and dedication they show on a regular basis, I cannot say enough about how hard each individual has worked to continue to best serve our SISD community in the face of seemingly overwhelming challenges in these unprecedented times. It is my hope that I will continue to be able to work along side our awesome faculty, staff and administrators as we strive to best serve Shelbyville ISD no matter what the future holds.

I would like to wish Joey Lawson, Bryan Swindle, Sneaky Moore, Keni Bradshaw and Carriston Hendricks good luck in this upcoming election. Early voting will be held in the SISD administration building beginning April 25th through May 3rd, and regular voting will take place on Saturday, May 7th at the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville.

Thank you for your time and consideration and I would greatly appreciate your support.

Proud of the past, building for the Future.
