Who We Are

The Academic and Travel Booster Club (ATBC) was created to aid in the costs associated with running UIL Academics and traveling clubs at Center High School. Members include our board: Ashley Wulf, Christopher Watlington, Douglas Moore and Jeannie Gaines with campus contacts: Sydney Brookshire, Emily Glass, and Michele Whiddon.

Our Mission

Traditionally, UIL Academics has had to raise funds to participate in all activities throughout the year, and with the rising costs of food, gas, and other needs, supplementation is necessary to continue providing students with the opportunity to learn and compete. Supplies, testing materials, and appropriate clothing for competition will be provided to students who are in need. Additionally, the teachers and community members who help coach students do so with minimal compensation. The booster club will pay for their meals on competition days and provide small gifts of encouragement throughout the year. The ATBC will work with the mission to provide funding for these endeavors.

Scholarship Opportunities

The ATBC will award travel scholarships for students. The Center Cultural Exploration Club takes an international trip annually, and there are several other organizations who periodically take trips within the United States. Center High School is a title-I school, and many students have not been outside of Shelby County. Travel is an integral part of education and personal growth, and scholarships will help make travel more obtainable.

The Academic and Travel Booster Club will be funded by community donations and other fundraising efforts such as the concession stand.
