City of Timpson Notice of Meeting of Governing Body, March 17 Agenda

March 12, 2026 - Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the governing body of the City of Timpson will be held on the 17th day of March, 2026 at 5:30 pm at Timpson City Hall, 456 Jacob Street, Timpson, Texas, at which time the following subjects will be considered, to-wit:

1. Call to Order

3. Pledge: United States Pledge, Texas Pledge 

4. Council Items: Reports by the members of the City Council on matters not on the agenda will be made at this time. A total, not to exceed 10 minutes will be devoted to these reports.

5. Presentations and Recognitions / Chamber of Commerce notices:

6. Citizens Input: This time is provided for members of the public to address the City Council on items that appear within the Consent and Action Items or a matter not listed on the agenda. Each speaker is limited to 3 minutes. A Citizens Input Form may be filled out and filed with the City Secretary prior to the meeting.

City Secretary: A drawing was held February 26th for candidate placement on the voting ballot. Ballots will be listed for City Council: 1. Bert Coan, 2. Penny Ramsey, 3. Stephen Foster. Ballots will be listed for Mayor: 1. Debra Pate Smith, 2. Cedric Grace.

Important 2026 Election Dates:
Early Voting: April 20 – April 28, 2026 (No early voting on April 21 due to San Jacinto Day and it being a state holiday).
Election Day: Saturday, May 2, 2026

8. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider approval of the consent agreement to transition the current contract with Lilly Sanitation to Republic Services, effective April 1, 2026.

9. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider appointment of clerk/judge for the up-coming election and determine pay rate.

10. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider awarding one of the sealed bids for the city mowing contract, effective May 1st, 2026.

11. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider awarding one of the sealed bids for the Woodlawn Cemetery tree trimming and clean up.

12. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider awarding one of the sealed bids for the 2005 John Deere tractor and 1992 Case Back hoe.

13. Discuss and take action: Discuss and consider approval of Resolution-2026-01, authorizing execution of a letter of waiver for payments in lieu of taxes for the Housing Authority of Timpson, that have accrued through March 31, 2026.

14. Discuss and consider: Discuss and consider an interlocal agreement with the City of Timpson and Shelby County on the burn ban policy.

15. Adjourn.
