Constables, DPS Locate Missing Man

January 30, 2021 - Roy Cheatwood, Constable Precinct 3, reports the discovery of a missing person in Shelby County.

According to Constable Cheatwood he received a phone call from DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Department Lt. Reggie Roe on January 28, 2021 at 9am seeking the assistance of Cheatwood in helping to locate the whereabouts of Charles Clifton Evans.

Lt. Roe shared with Constable Cheatwood, Evans had left his mother's home in Logansport on the previous morning and had not been heard from or seen since that time.

Constable Cheatwood began searching for Evans in locations he was known to frequent and by 5pm he received a tip on a possible location of Evans in the Huxley area at Ragtown Park. Constable Cheatwood engaged the assistance of Texas Department of public Safety State Troopers in accompanying him to the location of FM 139.

When the officers arrived at the address, they found Evans to be walking to his vehicle. Not long after finding Evans, Constable Jamie Hagler arrived to assist the officers.

Trooper Jones contacted DeSoto Parish and alerted Evans mother he had been located and he was "OK."

"I want to say thanks to everyone involved," said Constable Cheatwood. "Working together makes a difference."
