County Judge Issues Statement on Resignation of Former Constable Metcalf

March 10, 2020 - Allison Harbison, Shelby County Judge, has issued a statement regarding the resignation of former Precinct 4 Constable Jake Metcalf.

Initially, a meeting of the Commissioners' Court was held in December 2019, and as a result Metcalf was then stripped of his salary, vehicle and physical access to his office.

The statement issued today is as follows,

To Whom It May Concern:

On December 18, 2019 I was told by the County Auditor and County Treasurer that Precinct 4 Constable, Jake Metcalf had submitted an invoice for payment that was found to be falsified. They met with Constable Metcalf and the District Attorney and presented the evidence of the fraudulent document. Mr. Metcalf admitted to the County Auditor, County Treasurer, and the District Attorney that he had falsified the invoice and presented it for payment.

The statements and evidence was given to the County Attorney. On December 20, 2019, the Commissioners' Court met with its Counsel present; Constable Metcalf and his attorney were present by conference call. Constable Metcalf, through his attorney, said that he would offer his resignation.
