County Teams Begin First Practices

August 3, 2016 - County teams began their first, non-contact, high school football practices this past Monday. Teams will begin contact practices on Friday,  August 5th. Texas teams can conduct their first scrimmages starting August 12th. Coaches and trainers steadily increase the physical demands asked of players as the season progresses.

The Center Roughriders, Joaquin Rams, Shelbyville Dragons, Tenaha Tigers and Timpson Bears all braved the heat early this week to prepare for their 2016 seasons. The teams took the field to prepare their players bodies and game plans, while participating in skill building drills and conditioning workouts. Four out of five county teams reached the playoffs last football season.

Teams will conduct their first varsity scrimmages starting on August 12th.

Besides football programs, cross country, volleyball, tennis, and school bands, have also began their preparations for this upcoming school year.

Hard work and high expectations have been seen throughout Shelby County this week.
