COVID-19 Dashboard Update: 26 New Cases in 1 Week; Data Discrepancy

April 14, 2021 - According to the Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard, since April 7th a total of 26 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported. Of the new cases, 7 were new confirmed cases and 19 were new probable cases. Just as a reminder, confirmed cases are a person who has tested positive through a molecular test that looks for the virus’s genetic material and probable cases are a person who has either tested positive through an antigen test or has a combination of symptoms and a known exposure to someone with COVID-19 without a more likely diagnosis.

The Texas DSHS Covid-19 Dashboard reported 123 recoveries on April 8th which exceeded the number of 98 active cases. The dashboard didn't reflect the negative number of active cases but reported instead 0 active cases.

The data also made the estimated recovered more than the total number of cases of Covid-19. Kerri Shofner, Emergency Management Coordinator for Shelby County, reported the data discrepancy to DSHS on Monday and has yet to receive a response. The Dashboard as of yesterday hasn't been corrected.

Because of the discrepancy, the total number of active cases won't be in the following report.

No new deaths have been reported.
