November 30, 2021 - (Album, Album2 Photos by Jennifer Dykes) - The Center Tennis Association Thanksgiving Doubles Tennis Tournament was held Saturday, November 27, 2021, and 60 individuals were signed up to play in this inaugural event at the Coach Leon Dykes Center ISD Tennis Complex.

At the opening of the tournament, Center High School Tennis Coach Leon Dykes welcomed everyone and he explained the event wasn't only to help support the school program, but also as outreach to youth who may otherwise not have the opportunity to ever pick up a tennis racket.

"We've got a lot of things that we're trying to accomplish and this is day one, so this is awesome, thank you so much," said Dykes.

He then thanked Sharon K. Nelson and the remainder of the Center Tennis Association Board for their work in helping to get the tournament planned and for future events.

Coach Dykes remarked he has had some struggles lately which the community has helped him get through quickly.

"As many of you may know or may not know, I've had a lot of situations going on and I just want to thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers," said Coach Dykes. "If it wasn't for this community I wouldn't be here so quickly back, I believe that, I truly do."

Rain was a constant threat to the tournament; however, it held off enough for everyone at the event to play and have an enjoyable time.
