April 14, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Tuesday, April 14.
I’m a big history fan, and sometimes that personal interest leads me to focus the Daily Devotion around some great historical event. And then that reference (hopefully) opens the door to a spiritual thought. There are some dates on the historical calendar, however, that seem to have passed without any earth-shattering, momentous milestones.
April 14 is definitely NOT one of those dates.
*1861 - Fort Sumter falls to a Confederate attack. And the Civil War begins.
*1935 - The “Black Sunday” dust storm hits Oklahoma, ushering in the Dust Bowl era.
*1828 - First American dictionary published by Noah Webster.
*1894 - Thomas Edison invents the Kinetoscope. Name doesn’t last, but movies do.
*1860 - First delivery by Pony Express to California from Missouri. Buffalo Bill Cody was an original rider.
*1912 - Titanic strikes an iceberg and sinks to the bottom of the Atlantic, taking with her 1503 souls.
*1865 - John Wilkes Booth, a 26-year-old actor, assassinates the President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
April 14, 2026 may not go down in history. It may not be a day that any of us remembers. It may turn out to be just an ordinary day. But Psalm 118:24 tells us - “This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”.
Meet you back here tomorrow,
David
