David’s Daily Devotion for Jan. 23

January 23, 2024 - Good Morning! It's Tuesday, January 23.

I love puzzles. All kinds of puzzles. Number puzzles, trivia puzzles, mazes, riddles, you name it. But my all-time favorites are word puzzles, and most especially crosswords.

Crossword puzzles began appearing about a hundred years ago. In 1942 the New York Times newspaper published their first one and the New York Times Crossword has remained the “gold standard” ever since. I do my best to complete it every day.

Some of the clues in those puzzles leave me stumped. But the great thing about crosswords is that they are constructed on connections. Every answer is connected to one or more other answers. So, if you don’t know 35-across, you can try your luck with 35-down. In Colossians 1:17, Paul speaks of Jesus and reminds us that “in Him all things hold together.” And two chapters later in Colossians 3:14, we learn that “love binds all things together in perfect unity”.

So whenever life seems puzzling, just remember the answer . . . Connections.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
