David’s Daily Devotion for Jan. 30

January 30, 2026 - Good Morning! It’s Friday, January 30.

If you read yesterday’s devotion, you’ll remember that our focus was on connections - our connections with the characters of the Bible. It was a theme that seemed to resonate with more than a few of our readers, many of whom emailed in about their “Bible person” - the person of the Word that they most identify with. If you have one of those special connections, I would love to hear about it!

God has truly given us a gift, the gift of their life stories. The stories of Abraham and Moses and King David, of Ruth and Esther and Mary Magdalene, of Peter and of Paul. Life stories that guide our lives. We witness, through the holy pages, their failures and successes , their doubts and their faith. And we see ourselves.

God gave us another gift, as well. The gift of His Son. And as we view the life of Jesus and study His teachings - we find a light for our path. But there’s more. Christ, the Bible tells us, was God, but was also a man - fully human. And so we not only see Him, but He sees us - in all our weakness and temptations and challenges - because He experienced eveything that we experience, He went through all that we go through. It is one of the great mysteries of the faith. God became man. It is the great miracle of the Bible. And God’s greatest gift to us.

Meet you back here on Monday,
