David’s Daily Devotion for January 26

January 26, 2023 - Good Morning!  It’s Thursday, January 26.

We’re working to restore the Prayer Ministry at First Baptist Center.  It had become dormant and inactive over the last few years.  With God’s power and the leadership of our new prayer coordinator, Jan Morris, we pray that prayer will, once again, become a foundation of our church.

There is a room in our church called The Prayer Room.  Like the prayer ministry it had become little used.  We recently discovered that the phone had been disconnected!  We’re fixing that.  Do you have a “prayer room” in your house?  Do you remember this verse from Matthew 6:6?

“When you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen.  Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

As we look at the context of this verse, we see that it is in contrast to the way that the Pharisees prayed - putting on a show of “religiosity”.  God is certainly warning us not to pray like that.  But, perhaps, He is also suggesting that we have a special, prepared place to pray in our home.  The King James Version uses the phrase “prayer closet”.  A quiet place.  A place with a Bible, study materials, names or photos of those you are praying for, etc.

Something to think about.  Something to pray about.

Meet you back here tomorrow,

Bro. David
