David’s Daily Devotion for July 16

July 16, 2022 - It’s Saturday, July 16.

Tomorrow morning, we’ll be singing the song “Come, Now is the Time to Worship” at First Baptist Center. It’s a song born in a moment of change, birthed in a time of crisis. A song with a lesson for us this morning.

Brian Doerksen is a Canadian worship leader. In the early 1990’s he was inspired to write a Christian musical, and used a great deal of his own money to produce it. The musical was a failure. Discouraged, and needing a job to support his young family, he took a new position in England, a new start.

Shortly after relocating, two of his children were diagnosed with a serious genetic disorder, a condition that would require lifelong special care. Overcome by all of this, overwhelmed by the change and crisis in his world, Doerksen left his house and began to aimlessly walk the streets of London. In that moment, inspiration came for a new song.

It was a song that reminded this young father, and reminds us today, to praise the Lord in the bad times as well as the good. Whatever the circumstances... “now” is the time to worship!

Psalm 43:1 - I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Meet you back here on Monday,
Bro. David
