July 3, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, July 3. This is the last devotion in our four-part patriotic series. Thanks for joining us for this week’s journey to the 249th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
What is the legacy of our Founding Fathers? What is America’s greatest gift to the world? Our country is many things to many people. We’ve been called the “World’s Breadbasket”, and our “amber waves of grain” have fed hungry people across the earth. We’ve been called the “World’s Policeman”, and have provided protection and promoted peace around the globe. New York City is arguably the financial capital of the planet, and Hollywood, the center of entertainment.
As wonderful and powerful as all those things are - is there something more? I believe that there is. And it’s wrapped up in a single word . . . freedom. Tomorrow we’ll celebrate those immortal words penned by Thomas Jefferson in 1776, declaring our freedom from England. Four score and seven years later, Abraham Lincoln famously said, “this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom.” And in 1961, a young president had this to say -
“In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to that endeavor will light our country and all who serve it - and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.”
The eloquent words of John F. Kennedy still ring deeply within the American heart, as we dedicate ourselves anew to the pursuit of liberty and justice for all, as we continue to lift high the light of freedom.
Here’s wishing you and yours a wonderful Independence Day!
May God Bless America!
Meet you back here on Monday,
David
