David’s Daily Devotion for June 5

June 5, 2025 - Good Morning! It’s Thursday, June 5.

Quick! What word is found the most times in the Bible? Forget about the little ones like “and” and “the”. What meaningful word occurs more than any other word in God’s Word? Got your answer ready? OK, here we go!

In 5th place - the word “people”, 2270 times.  Proverbs 29:11 - “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns a people.”

4th - “Israel”, 2750 times. Isaiah 46:13 - “I will establish my salvation in Zion, my splendor in Israel.”

3rd - “Man”, 3050 times. Proverbs 27:17 - “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”

2nd - “God”, 4300 times. Romans 8:28 - “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose.”

And in 1st place, with over 7000 mentions - “Lord”.  Psalm 23:1 - “The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.”

Does it seem like there’s one pretty important word missing from this list? Maybe the word . . . Jesus?  Well, the majority of the mentions of our top five are found in the Old Testament, and the name Jesus is never found there. We do find it almost a thousand times in the New Testament, and here is one of those times -

Acts 4:11 - “Jesus, the stone that the builders rejected, has now become the cornerstone.”

Meet you back here tomorrow,

David
